Well they really have stuffed this up haven't they. Not even close to being an accurate game. Knights beating the Cowboys 16-0, come on guys!

True. I should be happy with a rugby league game that gets minor things like passing and kicking and players staying in their correct field position wrong.

As long as they have creepily close to realism but weirdly off facial scans of a few players in each side.

the attitude of "we should be grateful to get a game at all" is exactly why we get served rubbish
Who said you have to be grateful? You don't have to like it, but until we can convince roughly another billion people to like rugby league, your FIFA set expectations are never gonna be close to met by a league game.

It has nothing to do with the "attitude" of the fans; it has to do with math, and the math doesn't give a shit about what any of us here think about the "worthiness" or otherwise of BA's work (or BigBen, Sidhe, Wicked Witch or HB Studios - all makers of very mediocre union titles), it just cares whether enough people will buy it to justify a sequel.

The kicker is that if BA sold a crap load of titles it might make a competitor consider entering the market with a rival league game. That would be awesome, as it's competition that drives improvements more than anything. But we're stuck in this vicious cycle where only die hard league fans will buy what we get and so other companies look at the sector and figures it's not worth risking competing with BigAnt because they're already established.

don't see anything there that precludes them just making a good game

throwing loads of money at it doesn't make it good, likewise decent games can be made on half the budget

but they have to give a shit

Yeah that makes a tonne of sense. Money and profit margins clearly have nothing to do with investment decisions and development standards.

You ought to start your own business school - your revolutionary ideas about just getting a handful of people with the right feelings is sure to be the start of a new world of economics.

Good is pretty subjective, but did you really just try to argue that "loads of money" doesn't make a good game??

No offense mate, but it really does. Have you ever seen the budget for a Madden, FIFA or the big 2K titles? They ain't making those things that well because they're all fueled by good intentions lol

money does not equal quality

Yeah mate, I'm for real. Sure, you can piss away your money, but by the same token you can't make the Avengers on the budget of an episode of home and away either.

Heck, just look at sport - there's a reason that the top 3 positions of the EPL have only been held by 5 teams for the past 20 years. Even an abberation like Leinster had to get a billionaire backing it before they managed their fluke.

But sure thing champ, money doesn't matter, so how about you and your mates go try knock up your own footy title for us all to see on whatever pocket money your parents give you lol.

let's put it this way - would you rather a game that plays well or a game that lets you recreate Fafita's head

Question: have you played any rugby union titles lately? Either by Big Ben, HB, wicked witch or sidhe over the past few years?

Because I have, and they've all been average. In fact I don't think a single one has been any better than the stuff BA have put out - Big Ben's work least of all.

Union has more people following it than league and yet is still small, and none of those companies have managed to hit a home run with any title. Do you really just think they all just "don't give a shit"?

I just think you kids are all living in some fantasy land and you're deluding yourselves if you think this isn't about money, but rather because the developers don't care (because people who's entire company's survival depends on the success of games like this clearly just want to insult fans).

not sure what any of that has to do with computer games but ok

they could concentrate on making a game that played like the sport they are representing

or they can release a massive turd every couple of years because they know starving fans will lap that shit up

but but now you can recreate Klemmers mong face and play on Laurie Daley Oval

The fact you don't get what any of that has to do with computer games confirms you don't have two functioning brain cells.

But yeah sure thing kiddo, the devs can all pay their salaries on the hopes and wishes of a bunch of geniused commie footy fans that don't get shit costs money - that's a sure fire bet to get you 2K quality NRL game lol

Plenty of great indie titles made on small budgets. Money helps, sure, but people who have passion for their project and the talent to go with it goes along way.

How many of those "indie games" were simulators of a footy code?

None. There's a difference between making a narrow scope artsy passion project and a sim of a sport people will dissect, criticize and over-analyze to death for not being close enough to the real thing.

These people aren't making BadLands on the iPad - they're making Rugby League on PS4/XBox0ne. It's not the same
