Your thread has been moved.

LU Mod reason:Reviving a 2003 thread is ridiculous, grow up.

Summed it up perfectly.

The mods seem dumb. It is a new article on an old topic, thats why this guy revived the thread.
Stop being dumb mods.

Careful ol' mate, I could tire of being your ghost writer . . . then again, where would my views be without you

This farce shows everything wrong with rugby league and why it will always be restricted as a minor sport. No strategy and clubs deciding what's best.

Exactly. It was relevant to the topic. Yet trolls like Canard post crap and nothing is done by the mods about it.

you can just add this to the list of stuff that the clubs do not get the point of. It is an impressive list.

This could be promoted as like the equivalent of the champions league final of RL or the super bowl. But like the nines, city v country, all-stars, expansion, a womens comp, membership..."whats in that for us".

It was always in trouble the second the Australian clubs got there asses handed to them last time it was played.

The nrl/origin has to tell themselves they are the biggest and bestest thing ever and anything against that is to be ignored as it clearly means nothing.

I spoke to an Englishman backpacker who suggested the NRL standards is much better then in England. It's played in cold climates in England and NRL started to win regularly when they put in the preparation. The problem is the preparation may take more time then NRL coaches want to give up in their pre-seasons.

This is it in a nutshell:

"Since the 2009 tournament, its popularity has increased with stronger crowds and also with Australian teams taking the concept more seriously, Australian teams were arriving earlier to acclimatize the players and often organising warm up games with other super league sides and this created a much stronger showing and improved results. This also led to an increased movement to having the tournament staged in Australia. During this period, the matches were fixtured in late February, still before the commencement of the National Rugby League season but in the early stages of the new Super League season."

The biggest problem with the wcc is the timing. It’s stupid having it right before the start of the next season. It disrupts teams preparation for that upcoming season. They should move it to after the grand final

Agree should be played 3rd week of Oct in the country hosting the end of season internationals

Eg in 2017 it should have been played Thu Oct 13 at AAMI Park

But that means the ESL GF needs to also occur on NRL GF weekend

The WCC concept goes on well before the 1976 St Helens match v Easts

But no one knows about prior cross country premiers v premiers matches

They should and be added to history

You never know, the WCC might be played in New York one day . . . surely the Big Apple would be preferable to Sydney

Come to think of it, wouldn't it be great to see the Rhinos play the Storm at the MCG next year . . . imagine 80k at a WCC game

Imagine the 5k they will get at the G for a pre season trial. What an atmosphere!
