Jarryd in the Eels backline (where he has always belonged) will be unstoppable. Put him at centre.

Helps when you play against park footballers in the weak side of the draw, while the real goat (Billy Slater) plays most of his World Cup games against the quality teams like England and NZ

Billy struggles for the Kangaroos because the Roos don't get as much time to practice all the wrestling techniques that allow fast play the balls. Slater is great when his team totally dominates the ruck speed. He would be excellent at touch footy when he retires. He would have been a journeyman at another club.

Slater struggles for the Kangaroos? What? Billy has always played great when he plays for Australia

Didn't he cost us a world cup with his ineptitude that came out of the fact he was being dominated by the opposition?

Somehow he is making this world cup the Jarryd Hayne story again. He just loves the world stage. If Hayne was Tongan they would be clear favourites for the cup.

He won player of the tournament for that World Cup. At no point was he every dominated by the opposition. He made one mistake that led to 4 points. NZ won by 14. Billy Slater did not cost Australia the World Cup in 2008, it’s stupid to say that he did

Hayne was a young teenager with very little experience. Slater was already a seasoned representative star.

No comparison
I agree it’s no comparison. Haynes mistake was far stupider. At least Slater was going into touch and tried to keep it in. It was just unfortunate that Benji was in great position to grab it before the two Kangaroos players that were there. Hayne was laying on the ground and just chucked the ball away for Darren Lockyer to pick up and score one of the easiest tries of his career

We will just never know if Slater was any good without first being surrounded by super stars (though you can tell he wouldn't have been - since he is alway on the end of a slick move rather than being a creator). That said most people I know think he was one of the top 10 fullbacks of the last 30 years. Thats pretty good.

Top 10? He’s not top 10 of the last 30 years. He’s number 1 of all time

greg inglis was always better than him and would have been the storm FB but for his versatility. Bill is the second best storm FB of the last 10 years. Thats something. Good on him.

Ahead of Churchill? Slater wouldn't play the way he does if it wasn't for Churchill, he revolutionized the role of a fullback completely. We just can't compare eras.

And Slater hasn’t revolutionised the role of the current fullback? Before Slater the fullback was basically just a support player, now it’s one of the most influential positions on the field.

Also I’ve never seen other teams intentionally kick the ball dead from 30-40 metres out just to avoid the fullback returning it, like teams did for Slater

Your kidding yourself mate. Even Craig Bellamy used to say Inglis’ best position is fullback but he wouldnt play him there because Slater is a better fullback

Hayne has had to play some of his World Cup games in his career for a minnow team(Fiji) and still holds the record for most world cup tries,Billy Slater can't even get the record playing with the best team and best players LOL

Hayne + Minnows > Slater

Jarryd Hayne gets success playing with trash, something that Billy Slater could never do

Hayne single handedly wins NSW the Origin series in 2014 against the most successful Qld team ever(Billy could never do this if roles were reversed)

Hayne holds record for most World Cup tries despite having to play for a minnow team in Fiji(Billy Slater would have zero tries if he played for Fiji)

Hayne single handedly gets the worst NRL team in history to the 2009 GF(Eels would have got the wooden spoon if Billy Slater was there fullback)

Billy Slater would have had zero success if he had to play for the teams Hayne played for,and not to mention he could never make the NFL

Bow to the GOAT

What success? Jarryds been to the finals once since 2009, and that was with a team he joined when the season was almost over. This year he played the whole year with them and they came 2nd last.

Everyone knows it was Trent Hodkinson who won that, not Hayne. And let’s not forget that while Cronk was on the field that year NSW never had the lead. QLD scored first in game 1 then Cronk breaks his arm, nsw win. Game 2 Cronk doesn’t play, nsw win. Game 3 Cronk plays QLD dominated.

Hayne holds record for most World Cup tries despite having to play for a minnow team in Fiji(Billy Slater would have zero tries if he played for Fiji)
Hayne scored most of his tries while playing for Australia, along side the true goat Billy Slater. He also has scored all he’s tried against shit sides like USA and coincidentally Fiji. Also I like how you leave out the reason why he has to play for Fiji, because he’s not good enough to play for Australia.

Hayne single handedly gets the worst NRL team in history to the 2009 GF(Eels would have got the wooden spoon if Billy Slater was there fullback)
Yeah Hayne was great in 09 getting the Eels to the gf, pity he played shit in the grand final and ended up losing to, oh what a coincidence, Billy Slater and the Storm. As far as wooden spoons, Hayne has won more then Slater

Billy Slater would have had zero success if he had to play for the teams Hayne played for,and not to mention he could never make the NFL
I guess we’ll never know about this but I would like to point out that a massive reason why the teams Slater has played on have been successful is a lot because of Slater.

As for the NFL. Hayne may of made the team but he hardly played, mostly because he couldn’t catch and hold onto the ball. Then he quit cause it was too hard
