Moylan finished well down list in the Clubs mid season kicking comp. He has a touch footy background, he didn’t grow up being coached how to kick a footy. He honestly struggles to kick a ball 40metres.
On the flipside to this he's the most clutch fieldgoal kicker ive ever seen. He has something to work with there

So because he was 'good' for half a season (not taking into account his defensive deficiencies nor the fact he should easily be our best player), everything else should be forgotten?

Kid has a ton of potential, but that's it so far. You guys build him up to a ridiculous level.

He got injured so we didn't get a whole year of him. Also are you forgetting last year? He was a big reason we had a good year. Played a lot of 1st and 2nd receiver.

Defensive deficiencies?

Maloney is twice as bad. Bringing up bad defence would heavily favour Moylan.

Funny how its only an issue for Moylan and not the players equally as bad or worse. Cartwright was a worse defensive half aswell.

Im not sure any player can look good defensively in our structures. Even our best defender (Yeo) has had poor games. Not sure weve had any player not miss 5+ tackles in a game.

Statistically Maloney may be worst, but I can garuntee you that has more to do with the role he plays in the team rather than his actual technique.

You watch Maloney play a game, you would never pick him as being a poor defender.

Give Moyza a full season in the front line and we’ll see how they compare.

And how do you think he will go in our team? We have the worst defensive structure of any team in the competition.

You might disagree with that. But we miss more tackles per game than any other team. Cartwright copped it for missing lots of tackles.

Yet CHN, RCG and merrin all averaged more
missed per tackles each game than him.

Mez missed 5+ tackles in 6 games.
CHN missed 5+ tackles in 7 games.
RCG missed 5+ tackles in 5 games.

Round 18 vs Sea Eagles RCG missed a massive 10 tackles. Ridiculous for a front rower

Moylan missed 5+ tackles twice. Both times against Raiders. 8 in one, 7 the other.

Edit
Carty missed 5+ tackles 3 times.

That's more than a little concerning.

There is no point judging Maloney on stats alone. Flanno never hid him in the defensive line, he sent him out there to disrupt the play, get in faces, put play makers off. When you do this, your going to miss tackles and give away penalties, Flanno knew this and decided that the result was worth it.

He plays for the Roos or the Blues and his game changes.

It’s pointless looking at stats off NRL.com and make judgments based on that.

I for one have never come away from watching Maloney play a game thinking. God Damn that bloke can’t tackle.

That's fair but a lot of people do think that.

Cartwright was defending on the edge and missing tackles which directly lead to tries being scored. He’s a genuine poor defender and I belive should be moved to the middle.

Age will catch up with him... you cant just seap clubs and repeat the same cycle infinitely.

You can add 3 years to his age each time he begins at a new club. 31 isnt a complete write off. But its common for pla yers careers to ne well and truly on the decline by then aswell.

31 in the 90s was old.... With players diets these days its not so bad.

According to the Hole

Lebanese cult hero Abbas Miski could be set to join his lookalike Josh Mansour at Penrith next season.
Miski, the bearded wing flyer who scored two tries in the narrow 24-22 loss to Tonga on the weekend, has been one of the players to really catch the eye in the World Cup.
And the North Sydney Bears winger has attracted the attention of several NRL clubs, with Penrith leading the way.
I’m hearing the Panthers are set to offer 22-year-old Miski, who played the past couple of seasons with South Sydney’s NSW Cup feeder club Norths, a 16-week train-and-trial contract.
Miski had verbally agreed to a contract with fellow NSW Cup team Wentworthville, but didn’t sign a formal clontract and is free to join the Panthers.
Miski scored a hat trick in the Phoenician Cup against Malta earlier this season and has been a tower of strength in the feledgling Lebanon team in the World Cup.

Only Cronk is up there with him. JT is average

Come on now... don’t get me wrong, Moyza does have that ability to pull something out of the hat, Kick a goal after the siren or pull of shit like he did against the raiders... but you can’t honestly say he’s better than JT... probably the most clutch player the game has ever seen..

JT is a super star... Moyza is still a work in progress.

I'm not comparing or arguing Moylan v Maloney. I'm arguing the notion that Moylan was some sort of immortal at this club & he should be respected not 'dumped' on.

The guy got to 50% of his potential, not due to injury but due to attitude off & on the field. I've said it multiple times but Gus swept a hell of a lot under the carpet with the bloke.

Anyway, John is right, Moylan has left. Good riddance, lets move on.

JT is one of the best to ever play.
