Surely it's against the Geneva convention to force a ranga to play in this sun all day?
Did anyone notice the NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers stationed on the boundary with hose and buckets of water at the ready in case he actually caught on fire?? Fortunately they would never have been required...their top order all went to water and were ready to put out any spot fires...

By god this is an awful England team. That's terrible. Why is he playing back? They've got blokes who are either old and past it (one Cook innings aside, he's included), or inexperienced and with serious question marks on them. And Root on this tour has been disgraceful. Smith has bashed centuries all over the joint. When Williamson and Kohli last came to Australia they got runs. Root, he has a poor conversion rate, and that dismissal late on day one suggests a mentally weak character. And I still say, England have got away with a bits and pieces plodder as their front line spinner for far too long.

Bleak times ahead for England. The only bloke for mine who can hold his head high is Malan.

Anderson and Bairstow have been decent - Root probably shouldn't be captain, just because he's the best player doesn't mean he's the best captain

Bring back Stokes, add the Overtons and find a spin bowler, and another couple of bats and they'll be ok - everyone is pretty average at the moment - RSA have the aging thing with injuries, India and Australia doubtful away from home, NZ and Pakistan inconsistent, and the Lankans poor away too

Game should be over by lunch. Root did well to last the the final session.

Unless they somehow make it to the tea break seems unlikely they'd risk him in a lost cause.

Wouldn't be a surprise if they bring in a rule for extremely hot weather. Standing out in the sun in 45+ degree weather can't be good for anyone.

Root really should look after himself, its not as though he can save the game.

No way. He is the captain ffs. He needs to play, or lose the respect of his dressing room.

If he was an Aussie, I would expect him to play.

easy to say that but if he has serious dehydration, he'd be silly to put his health at risk imo
