Don't think there is any relationship with John Martin but he may be related to Josh Martin, who was in the Blacktown team that played Cabra - both played NYC for Manly last year.

A combined RMC team will play the combined Newcastle competition on 1st June. There are no RMC games that weekend. After the game a RMC/Newcastle combination will be selected to play Queensland Rangers. Paul Carter is in the Newcastle side.

Curtis Johnston has returned to North Sydney Bears after three years up at Redcliffe. Looks like he may end up playing Ron Massey at Asquith until Souths pick up some injuries.

When Brothers were previously part of the RMC, the SS a 4 team competition, so Brothers win against Moorebank is their first in a SS comp but although they never made the top 5, in their first season in RMC they actually led the comp at the halfway point and included some decent players eg Clay Priest, Darren Baker, Mick Hawkins, Mitch Cahalane, Dave Cahalane, Shannan Wood and James Cameron etc. However, their recruitment in 2018 lacked similar foresight.

RMC
Wenty 28 Mounties 4
Cabra 20 Glebe Burwood 18
Asquith 28 Brothers 12

An 11 man GB side could not hold Cabra out. 5/8 Manumaleelii was sin binned early in the game but he decided to abuse the ref so it was converted to a send off meaning that GB would play 72 minutes with 12. This appeared a minor inconvenience and they were receiving a good workout against the overlap while controlling the game 18-6 when just before half time, Willis Meehan decided to display his boxing form on the face of Cabra defender Ryan, who was on the ground, resulting in the second send off.

It was inconceivable that Cabra would not win from this position and after a penalty goal to GB, Cabra used the overlap twice in quick time to close the gap to 18-16. With 15 to go Donny Thompson darted down the blind side to take the points.

Manumaleelii has form for this offence, being sent off in a semi final for Guildford a few years ago. I thought the officiating was poor but this player was still giving it to ref from the behind the fence at the end of the game.

Earlier Wenty and Mounties both went into this game in sub par form but Wenty lifted today and dominated after an early try to Mounties.

SS
Belrose 8 Cabra 6
Asquith 64 Brothers 12

Cabra really lacked direction and that showed with the #7 getting hooked in the second half. They really should have racked up a score but they kept taking the wrong options. Meehan showed why he has not place in RL and hopefully will not be seen for a long time.
Apparently the GB fullback was sent off after the game as well.

Cabra in the SS were similar , both teams strong in defense but a lack of direction really cost Cabra and they struggled to worry Belrose much

Disappointing afternoon for Glebe-Burwood but it should be remembered, they played 43 minutes with 11 players and still almost won. Today will offer up a few lessons for everyone involved, but ultimately they will derive confidence from their performance. Eight players unavailable on top of that through illness and injury just shows the depth.

Pleased to see Fijian import Joe Drodrolagi plsy well in his Glebe Burwood debut.

Glebe Burwood full of thugs. You'd imagine the NSWRL would want to come down hard on the sent off players.

Only one player sent off for foul play and that was Willis Meehan. No violent incidents this year prior to the Willis Meehan send off today. Kem Seru marched for high tackle in round seven last year but other than that not one one charge laid for violent play last year either.

Willis Meehan is a special type of thug and not indicative of GB, I hope he doesn't see a RL field for a long time.
I know a few of the GB players and they are decent blokes as are the staff, but there was a few (that I don't know today) that certainly didn't like the game being taken to them today and started walking a fine line in terms of filth, more than a couple of cheap shots dished out.

Brothers will pick up a win soon. They lead Asquith at half-time and put in a decent performance but just couldn't go on with it for the entire 80 minutes.

3 players were actually sent. the fullback sent after the full time whistle. although you are correct in that only Meehan was a grub the other two just had verbal diarrhoea

If Meehan gets back on the field it would be too soon, absolutely thug of an act to punch someone on the ground, common assault on the street

RMC
Guildford 26 Blacktown 12
Hills 30 Wests 18

With Blacktown having to put an ISP team on the field this week, they were only left with 10 of the players that beat Cabra by 2 points last week. Guildford had the luxury of Mitch Achurch returning from injury. 3 tries in the first half by David Minute was not enough to provide a win to Wests.

SS
East Campbelltown 42 Hills 16
Moorebank 30 Wenty 28

Moorebank have succeeded in beating one of the big 4 and when they scored their 5th try a minute after half time to lead 28-4 it looked like it would be a flogging but Wenty lifted with 4 tries in the space of 20 minutes but were unable to bridge the gap in the last quarter of an hour.
