NSW origin side.

I can’t see Hunt being dropped, nor should he be.

Thought he did well, but he was definitely at fault for NSW first try in the second half. Came in incorrectly and then slipped over.

He’s been doing the same thing for the Dragons.

He is generally a good defender but can sometimes make poor decisions on the right side. Last night was another example.

That's what happens when you move a half back into the middle of the field to defend (particularly at Origin intensity).
QLD had Hunt, Milford, McCulloch and Munster all on at the same time when that try was scored and Hunt had been pushed into the middle 3rd to defend. A desperate strategy from the coach to score some points that ultimately backfired!

Hunt was injured and that impacted on his running game but he played well overall, especially in the second half. It was noticeable that in the second half the most dominant set of six QLD had, and when they scored a try and went to the lead, was when Hunt took the ball four times in a row. It was probably significant that he was largely an effective playmaker in the first 15 minutes of each half. Playing needled in all likelihood. Will probably not play for us against the Dogs. But he will be picked for QLD. I suspect he will emerge from the Origin series the same as Frizz did last year, carrying an ongoing injury and consistently playing well below his pre-Origin form. Hope I'm wrong.

It was about time, but NSW benefited from every 50/50 call in the second half. Two dubious calls that led to NSW tries, including one that saw Gould's love child throw a pass that was at least two metres forward. Does anyone else dislike Lattrell M? Dirty, spoilt and defensively as error ridden as either of our centres. But he is strong, runs powerfully and can do special things. But I really dislike him!

i sometimes wish we could see him take the ball four times in a set of 6 for the dragons, Widdop should step back when we get close to the line, all hes got is a grubber that goes dead at least 25%of the time.

What did everyone think of Freddys use of the bench?

I thought Fittler could assist Mary by firstly................

* Showing Mary what a bench looks like.

* Showing Mary how to fill a bench.

* Showing Mary how to use a bench ............... all four of them.
* ( Footnote - This image displays Mary's standard unused bench of three players )

I would pick:

1. Tedesco
2. Trbojevic
3. Mitchell
4. Roberts
5. Addo-Carr
6. Maloney
7. Cleary
8. Campbell-Gillard
9. Cook
10. Klemmer
11. Cordner
12. Frizell
13. Trbojevic

14. Vaughan
15. Crichton
17. De Belin (if fit)
18. Peachey

Might be one front rower short, but can't think of too many others. Maybe either James, Sims or Boyd instead of Crichton or Peachey ???

You are a genious.

He come back on in the last 15 mins or so.
Mate the Injury JDB has he will struggle to be fully fit till he has a least a week or two off.
Hayne has the same one and has hardly played this year

If that’s the case maybe having the week off from now until our next game might do wonders.

As for the rest, surely we play them. We have the longest turnaround of any side. Even if it’s reduced minutes for Frizell, off the bench. Vaughan should be fine. Hunt and his cork is dragging a while, but corks can be like that - but the way I see it if he can play a full origin he surely can play club football

Firstly great win to the young Blues , a tremendous confidence booster for the games ahead . Must repeat what other members have already said - they are missing that one real hardhead forward who can give as good as he gets and give the rest of the pack moving in the right direction . Also , as said Freddy did use his bench to the utmost thus ensuring that there were fresh players available and also negating the possibility of injury.

Frizell , Vaughan and Simms will be right to play on Sunday however in my view it will be well worth the trouble giving both Hunt and De Belin the weeks rest - they have earned it and also need it . Their replacements - young Niccolls for Hunt and Host for De Belin , just my thoughts .

Gareth,
Young Nicholls as you call him is 29, we are his 6th club and he is still yet to make his NRL debut.
If we select him then progress for other younger players will be further frustrated but then again we are masters of doing that.

Well regardless of his age there is no doubt that Hunt needs a rest and also De Belin , however whom do you suggest as a replacement , Field ? At least Niccolls can kick and direct his team around the park if he is ever to make his NRL debut this match against the Bulldogs would be a perfect opportunity .

I agree both JDB and hunt need a rest especially Jack.
I would go with mann in the halves can kick a bit.
I would have him and gareth in the halves.
I would have blocker as jacks replacement.
I would have Nicholls on the bench can play 7 and nine.
But knowing Mary he will play all his origin players.
By the way frizz got a brusied sternum .
Thanks to chambers who has been charged with raising his knee in a tackle.
They will be back tomorrow so see how there going then.

I'd go for Nicholls to be fair for the exact reasons you have pinpointed. I haven't watched a hell of a lot of the ISP since I moved, but he does direct the team. Also a handy kicker. I don't think he'd let us down but do we go for Kurt Mann? Perhaps not his best position but it may work.

He does indeed Drag Queen , I would prefer him as Hunts replacement over someone such as Mann . Nothing whatsoever wrong with Kurt , but imo he should be out there on the wing , has abundant speed and also knows how to score tries .

But back to young Niccolls , we need a specialist to play a in a specialist position as the half-back role calls for , not an injured Jack De Belin or Mann . However in saying all that I have said it will all come back to whether or not the ' maestro ' decides to give Hunt a much needed rest - don't go holding your breath !

They really hurt the poor bloke too , you could see the pain on his face , stop him dead in his tracks . That warrants a harsh penalty , however being origin we will undoubtedly see the mongrel back again , just hope that he receives his comeuppance !
