Parramatta Leagues Club board sacked, administrator appointed

Isn’t that what Max was brought in to do in the first place???

The Nsw government brought him in surely he has the power to ram his reforms through instead of running the club like some bankrupt organisation which he normally deals with???

Changes to the PLC constitution need to be agreed by 70% (+1) of eligible voting members at a General Meeting - this is in the Registered Clubs Act and cannot just be rammed through by the Administrator.

Changes to the PNRL constitution have been rammed through by Max (with PLC member feedback) in 2016 and saw the introduction of a mostly independent board (5 independents and 2 PLC appointed Directors).

any changes would surely need board approval, he was appointed as administrator not dictator

See above - PLC changes need membership approval and this is where Max has been struggling due to the factional hanger onerers. Expect it to go back to a vote in the next 2-3 months for a second attempt.

Well he tried to push through reforms. Spags and co ambushed him and were the majority of the 170 merkins who turned up.
Yep, though next time maybe not (fingers crossed).

Well i’m sure he did say he would ram his reforms through regardless. I thought that meant be had the power to force them through. Otherwise what a total waste of time because as all know Fitzy, Spags won’t allow this to happen democratically.

I reckon his "ramming" them through statement was more of a veiled threat to the members that he is serious (as is the NSW Government) on making changes to the Constitution and will be investigating other options should they not get passed.

Well I hope he is investigating otherwise he will never get them through. And his time as chairman will be considered a massive failure.

Glory days over for NRL player agents

The Mr Six-and-a-half-percenters — the NRL player agents — are scrambling amid news that the current accreditation system is about to be blown up.

NRL chief operating officer Nick Weeks told club bosses at their recent meeting that moves were afoot to make managers more accountable, allowing the integrity unit to look into how they do business.

It will be put in the hands of the NRL and RLPA.

The current agents’ accreditation committee has failed to nail those managers involved in the Parramatta salary cap scandal — two years after sanctions were handed down to the club and officials.

We won’t name names but we know of several high-profile agents who are frantically trying to off-load their businesses, aware the glory days are over.

Extraordinary that player mangers can randomly ring a club and demand extra cash for a player. The club feels the need to do a paper bag in car park thing because the player manager has a stable of 100 players who won’t be offered to the club unless they comply.

Scum of the earth.

Paul Merkin actually said something partly sensible

GOVERNMENT, DONNELLY HAVE FAILED PARRAMATTA

EACH new day reveals how much the NSW State Government has failed the Parramatta Eels by appointing Max Donnelly as an administrator.

Donnelly was appointed by the NSW Government to bring constitutional amendment after the salary cap scandal.

So far more than $1.5 million has been paid to Donnelly and his employer Ferrier Hodgson in fees, the Eels have run up a $25 million debt, the club is losing ground in the poker machine turnover, the football department is teetering on ruin, Brad Arthur was refused even the basic requirement of a football general manager and yet, still no constitutional amendment.

And why? Because each amendment that goes to members usually contains a clause so preposterous the whole thing gets voted down by members.

Arthur did not even have an assistant coach until round seven when David Kidwell was appointed. Meanwhile, the debt has blown out because of the car park construction.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian needs to intervene.

Shit journalism. You can’t print grandiose accusations without allowing the club (Max or Bernie) to privide their rebuttal. Typical parra-is-good-click-bait piece.

Yep, and good old El D clicked on it, brought it, hook, line and sinker and then shared it with his ignorant view of reality.
