Actually, you'll find it's quite entertaining.
Not really, no intensity in defence is shithouse.

This is why U/20's, 23's was third grade for 100 years, which worked perfectly well. It's only stupid competition for juniors that has this comp placed above where it should be (same thing is happening in cricket as well with the disasterous Futures League).

I was talking about representation of a game, from a casual viewer stand point.
From what I've gathered, people find RL boring if it's a defence orientated game.
RL fans appreciate the tackling but the casual watcher finds it tedious.

Complaints about the defense in a NYC game.

A few things to remember

1. Defense is about attitude and these are young kids playing.
2. The large majority of them never make first grade and for those that do another high percentage won't last very long - probably because of reason number 1.
3. NYC isn't supposed to be a reserve grade replacement
4. The only difference between jnr defense 5-6 years ago and jnr defense today is that it's televised for all to see (and whinge about). Yet at NRL level defense is just as good.

Enjoy it for what it is - from the couch.

Also add to that most of these kids make the NYC based on there offensive ability i.e. theyve been so good at the lower levels that defence was secondary.

Enjoy the game, enjoy the skills, the kids that cant defend wont make it.

True, especially when it comes to the bigger boys.

Ali Lauitiiti when Daniel Anderson first came to the club. Anderson was surprised to learn that Ali had never really learnt to tackle properly, simply because nobody ever ran at him.
