it's beyond your comprehension

what seems to be beyond you is the idea that the NRL should take a leadership role in getting the best deals for clubs in the comp by influencing and putting pressure on State Govts. I find it hard to belive that you feel they shouldn;t be and that it is all the clubs responsibilities when clearly the AFL are showing the benefits it can have if you take this approach.

But then it is easier I guess to put your head up your ar*e and blame the AFL for the NRL's problems.

I think the core of what you are saying is that the AFL has fostered political ties, especially with the Labor party when in power, where then NRL has done sweet fk all in that regard.

Political ties are important for getting funding grants, but the NRL has been almost non-existant in this regard under Gallop. Only since the last election is the NRL trying to get more involved with NSW Libs.

The NRL p!ssed off fed labor over the ARL HQ grant, and its continued ties to Murdoch do it no favours either.

Bring on the commission and bipartisan lobbying for the NRL. The Dragons pushed the redevelopment of Jubilee Oval hard, got a local MP in running on that issue, then secured Federal and State grants.

I'd like to see similar moves from Parramatta to get Parra Stadium redone.

The NRL needs to do more in this regard.

Did the NRL demand from the Q'land govt a good deal for the Titans before they admitted them? I bet they didn;t. If they had said "we will admit the Titans as the next NRL team but you have to A) build them a new stadium and B) these are the lease agreements for that stadium for the club otherwise no team" then the Titans probably wouldn;t be in the situation they are in. HAs the NRL ever challenged the Q'land Govt about the stadium deals for Q'land NRL teams? Again probably not as they are not a proactive advocate group for the game.

You can hate the AFL as much as you like but they have got their sh*t together when it comes to getting the best deals they can for their clubs and game.

I'm pretty sure the QLD government had to agree to build a stadium before the Titans were granted a franchise.

As for the AFL, they have friends everywhere. Like the Labor party, ABC, Kim Williams at foxtel etc. the list goes on. If that's what you call having their shit together then yes they do.
From the Labor party they get favourable stadium deals. From the ABC they get massive promotion. From Kim Williams they get a TV deal that is way more than they are worth.

the fact is that Gallop actually lobbied the Qld Govt on behalf of the Titans. T

My concern was - and still is - that the CC Bears were already sitting back fully funded, great stadium (already built and paid for) etc - but Gallop gave the Dolphin/Titans more and more time, personal lobbying on their behalf - then put the Titans in over the CC Bears. THEN - he offers $10 million to any other club to come in and take over Gosford thus killing off the Bears once and for all.

And now, after 4 or 5 years, the Titans have their hands out, performance is appalling, financial stability under massive question marks - and still Gallop keeps the CC Bears at arms's length.

Any objective observer would look at this and say it is highly questionable.

why is it so hard for you to understand?

why would the NRL have helped the GC out when they were competing with CC for a spot in the comp?

they would have been favouring one side you thick prick

The difference was Ronny the AFL had plans to move to the Gold Coast, and Rugby League wanted to beat them to the punch...

If you could only convince the AFL to expand to the Central Coast, the Bears would be back in a nanosecond...

Good luck with that...

no

the AFL are closely linked to the Labor party and Labor give them anything

To Victorian State Labor Government?
Interesting what Jeff Kennett said way back then in 2007:
Former Liberal premier and current Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett said he judged senior AFL executives on their performance, and to date he had not seen "any overt political interference by anyone".

I really don't see that as big issue with Victorian Labor getting behind the AFL in Victoria.
It would be similar to state Labor is NSW funding Kogarah Oval, WIN Stadium in Wollongong, Campbelltown Stadium, Bluetongue Stadium, Parramatta Stadium and Penrith Stadium.
Would do make of (so-called) Manly fan Tony Abbott's promotion of The West Coke Eagles to the US President?

as if they would let a Liberal know

Demetriou has long been against them even speaking out against John Howard and his policies

they were also pissed off that the Howard gaovernment were critical of their weak drug policy http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/afl-drugs-policy-slammed/story-e6frecrc-1111113586981

Labor in opposition sided with the AFL http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/alp-sides-with-afl-on-drugs/story-e6frf9if-1111113584256
I think its more of a case that the NRL have hitched themselves to News Ltd and the Daily Telegraph. The NRL supports any group the Telegraph supports. The AFL changed their support to the ALP in 2007 because they knew would win government. The NRL is full of muppetts like David Gallop. The AFL make their own decisions,

Even so, I wish it had.
I don't think your Mt Pritchard Community Club was too happy with the agreement to build a casino between the Bulldogs and the Labor dominated Liverpool Council on council land. I suppose the whole thing was no chance once the Bulldogs scam was identified, with paying players though a council project,
