Stumps: NSW need just over 110 to win.

Other results:

-Tassie thrashed SA (SA eliminated)
- Victoria trail by 165 with 10 wickets in hand (qld need 10 wickets to make the final- pitch is flat though)

Gee Smiffy has to be one of the most consistent batsmen in the country atm.

He gets a 50 almost every time he walks to the crease.

A batsman coming good in his mid 20's, who'd have thought?

People were criticising him big time for his efforts in his early years and pointing to his technique. Technique is rarely the problem and some of the best batsman of the last 20 years prove that, his mental application has become immense and he reaps the reward.

He was in the same situation as Hughes but he didn't fold. Good on him he will be a great rock for Australia if he keeps this form going for a few years.

I see HAH failing under pressure to score again...

But but but but he averages 80 against quicks  out to Bird and Hilfy

How the hell did SA let Tas go from 6/238 to all out 651

Sounds like Jackson Bird had a good game too which is always good to see

In fairness, he's tightened up his technique alot. I always liked SMith though because at state level he has consistently played with patience. When he first came into the Australian side though he was completely misused, catagorised as a slogger when he's never really been that player (he can obviously hit the ball, but a more patient player like that), in all forms of the game. He's really benefitted from Lehmann in charge, getting him in his natural number 5 role.

He entered the system as a T/20 and ODI player and thats how he batted and its also why his defence was poor. Way too much of this clearing of the left leg, hence a huge gap between bat and pad and poor defensive technique.

He's worked on that and become a good test batsman and removing him from the T/20 and ODI Aussie teams has probably made him a better test batsman.
