one of the best threads

would you be able to do one for this year as well?

one thing im really interested in is line breaks and line break assists. it seems like most of our attacking plays are due to intercepts or individual brilliance. there seems to be a lack of set moves especially since teddy's injury.

Another useless stat or two.
Dynamics of the 6 & 7.

Forget about tackles as Taylor doesn't actually worry about tackles made even though he states how important it is and the fact that the Tigers are improving.

The 6 and 7 apparently have to take more control so that means running the ball and you'd think or hope, setting up or leading to tries.

In 18 rounds according to NRL stats
Brooks has made 115 runs. When Farah has played Brooks ran 65 times (57% )and when Farah didn't play he ran 50 times (43% of his runs). I guess Brooks has therefore been stifled by Farah !!

Moses has made only 72 times. 40 times (61%) when Farah played and 28 times (44%) when Farah didn't play.

Is someone else getting in the way of Brooks and Moses or do they run when encouraged by Farah.

I wonder what stats Taylor uses when he picks a team to play each week, e.g. missed tackles by a centre.

One might say, that by holding onto the ball instead of passing from the deck, Farah is giving Moses and Brooks less time, forcing them to run more?

With early service they have more time to ball play and therefore control the team more?

If you take a step or two from dummy half, that should get the receivers moving before they get the ball as well, instead of standing still giving the defence more time to get to you, shouldn't it?

Not really.

The defence can move as soon as the ball clears the ruck.

So if Farah has taken two steps, the defence is now likely 5m away from the play the ball. By the time the ball is passed and received by the halves, the defence is now likely at the play the ball or better.

You'd have to play a pretty deep attacking line to give you any space to work with.

Getting the ball from the deck gives you most of those 10m to play with, both in space and time.

Remembering also there is only one bye this year. So we're already four wins a better side with three rounds to go, after turfing three of these supposed big 4 twats.

Moneyball appears to work for us.

Previous years results matter little to the current season.

So far in 30 games played in 2021
9 games were won by less then 10 points.
8 by between 10 & 20
13 by over 20
So a whopping 70% of games have virtually been lopsided blowouts .

Yep just goes to show that expansion can only take place and provide a tier 1 competition if clubs relocate. Bringing in brand new clubs won’t work. There is a lack of talent already and adding to the pile will only compound the problem.
After round 4 it already looks like premiership 2021 is a race between 6 teams. Penrith, Parra, Melbourne, Roosters, Canberra and Souths....That’s pretty bad.

The question is how can the shit teams catch up to the not shit teams. Look at Leilua, had a tough year last year (wahhhh you big sook, plenty of ppl did) and admits he got fat and didn't care, reckon that would fly at the Chooks or Storm.

Even Penrith wouldn't cop a lot of that and wouldn't you know it those teams are in the top 5 or better of the comp. I wonder why. I know rules have changed but they have changed for everyone. The good teams just get on with it and don't whinge.

After 10 rounds .
80 games with only 27 won by less then 10 points.
Under 10 points = 27 games
10-20 points = 21 games
20 plus = 32 games
66.25% of games were over 10 points.
