which of those players would you say can play prop well???
Rochow could play there but I don't believe has. Greinke has been used in the front row for the Bears but again is a second rower/centre. Gos is purely a second rower and Fuimaono is a backrower/centre.

yeah i'm worried we won't have enough good props in the squad, just like this year

Probably just Rochow unless Greinke bulks up more.

Rumours still that Brown is going to Parra. That'd be a loss of true.

Then we'd have to sign someone else.

I think Brown wants more than what SOUTHS are willing to give.

I don't think rochow will play prop. He is the exact type of player maguire loves at second row, maguire wiĺl know exactly what he'll get from rochow from their time together at the storm. Rochow was touted as a representative second rower of the future in 2013 and early 2014 but that talk has disappeared with newcastle's poor form, his injuries and he being forced to play out of position at prop, which he does well, and maybe he sees a move to souths as being guaranteed to play permanently on the edge with a coach that'll know how to use him

Well I think Rochow will play prop.

We already have lots of back rowers in:

Sutto
Turner
SAM
Crichton
Gosiewski
Greinke
Faumino
McInnes

For props:

G. Burgess
T. Burgess
Clark
Musgrove
Rochow

Hmm it definitely is interesting. I'd still have Rochow ahead of Gos, McInnes and Fuimaono at this stage though.

Theres middle forwards and edge forwards. Sam would be grouped with the former. So for middle forwards we have
Sam
Tom
George
Musgrove
Clark
Tyrrell
Possibly Brown.

For edge forwards we have
Turner
Sutton
Rochow
Chricton
Gosiewski.
None of the others have paid first grade yet so it's best not count those chickens before they hatch.
Sutton is close to retirement. Depending on injuries/suspensions etc he may be forced to play a bit of halves during the year. Gozzy and chricton are still rookies and developing. Rochow will play on the edges

Yeah I know where you're coming from but we are short on props.

Rochow has made good metres for Newcastle and I reckon he'd make 100m per game for us at prop which is better than that of Tyrrell, Clark and G. Burgess.

Diego I can't see Madge moving Sam from lock to often.

Sam's best position is lock that's for sure and he's able to roam around making us more dangerous. At prop he's not as dangerous and we will not get as much out of him.

I think Tyrrell will retire too. Plus I think Brown will go.

Also on another not we can get rid of Murphy too. He's a dud.

If Sutto does have to go to 6 at stages next season then we'd have to move Rochow to the second row.

Our prop depth is a worry though. We need another prop.

Yeah I feel that. I wouldn't hate putting Rochow there considering our depth in both positions. Whatever works for the team.

The way we play, like a lot of teams, is as an extra prop. Whether he plays 8 or 13 his role stays exactly the same. Almost every team plays lock as an extra prop nowdays. Taumololo at cowboys, Eastwood or klemmer at bulldogs, parker at broncos, trobavijtch at manly, gallen at sharks, merrin at Panthers, Finucane at storm etc. With sam playing 80 minutes it we means we need 5 middle forwards minimum in the 17. That's 8, 10, 13 and 2 replacements for 8 and 10.
To say sam is a backrower like sutton, turner and chricton is wrong. Our second rowers stick to their channels. Sams Game has way more in common with the likes of the twins and clark then it has to do with sutton or turner

I get what you're saying but I don't think you get what I'm saying.

At lock Sam is able to roam around more and it makes us more dangerous.

We don't get as much out of him at prop.

He plays exactly the same whether at prop or lock. Sams role doesn't change. It comes down to whether we go with 3 props (sam at lock) or 2 props and a smaller more defensive oriented player at lock (Sam at 8 and someone like Turner in 13).

I completely disagree.

Props aren't restricted to a channel like second rowers are nowdays. Nowdays you have left and right side second rowers and it's become so specialised that even rep teams prefer to pick a bloke who plays a certain side for his club. Props are still given permission to pop up wherever they want, they go pretty much where the work is. That's why you see props like Graham, scott, bromwich and fifita all pop up wherever they like when there's work involved, and the same can be said of the prop-locks like taumololo and trobavijtch. Sam whether his wearing 8 or 13 will pop up where the work is, or where his halves want him.

Put it this way, have you ever heard of a left or right side prop?

I know what you are saying.

But you don't seem to acknowledge/get what I'm saying.

Most props in the NRL don't roam.

When Sam plays prop for us he doesn't roam as much.

Every prop in the nrl 'roams'. They go where the work is.

They stay in the middle pretty much. I don't see props running wide.

At lock Sam is given the role of being able to run wider too. He is more dangerous at lock.

When we are attacking the try line Sam plays wide. Props don't.

I rest my case.
