Recliffe are looking to further strengthen their pack with attempts to sign NRL outcast Matthew Lodge and also throwing a lifeline to David Shillington with a preseason offered with the Broncos as well.

They are also looking to replace Darren Nicholls with Benji Marshall if he is not picked in A Grade but have Ipswich to contest with.

Gains and Losses: Redcliffe Dolphins

The Village Motors Redcliffe Dolphins have announced the signing of PNG Hunters centre Thompson Teteh as one of their key recruits for the 2017 season.

Teteh was in dynamic form prior to suffering a season-ending injury in against the Townsville Blackhawks in August 2016.

Now back to full fitness, Teteh will join coach Adam Mogg’s Dolphins squad for pre-season training from mid-November.

“Thompson is an international-quality centre who will add strike, speed and power to our backline,” Dolphins Football General Manager Grant Cleal said.

“As we have seen through crowd numbers at Intrust Super Cup games when the Hunters play here, there is a large number of PNG expats who live in suburban Brisbane.

“Their supporters can now see one of their own play for the Village Motors Dolphins, live every week rather than once or twice a season.”

The 27-year-old Teteh is one of a number of impressive signings the peninsular club will have join them in the 2017 season.

Forward Nick Slyney will return to the club following a stint overseas with the London Broncos, while junior Dolphin David Hala is another to have a Redcliffe homecoming.

Sunshine Coast Falcons: Gains and Losses

After a breakthrough 2016 season which saw them just miss out on a place in the grand final, the Sunshine Coast Falcons are looking forward to next year’s Intrust Super Cup season.

“History tells us that the vast majority of clubs who are successful on the field have a very solid and stable back office and that is something that we have worked very hard to create over the past few years,” Falcons CEO Chris Flannery said.

The club have made a number of key announcements this past week, including the return of Vantage Homes as the naming rights sponsor for the 2017 season.

Flannery also noted the support of the Sunshine Coast Council and their recently announced 2.4 million dollar upgrades to Sunshine Coast Stadium as reasons for Falcons fans to be excited about the 2017 season.

“In my opinion, Sunshine Coast Stadium is already one of the best venues in the Intrust Super Cup to watch rugby league, but with the Sunshine Coast Council’s recent investment and support, it will no doubt become even more popular with fans and families alike wanting to sit on the hill in the sun and watch some high quality football.”

In preparation for the season ahead, the club has make some key signings, highlighted by the inclusion of the experienced Scott Anderson, who has played more than 150 first grade matches in both the NRL and Super League for the Melbourne Storm, Brisbane Broncos and Wakefield Wildcats.

“To sign someone of Scott’s calibre to the Falcons is a real coup for us and shows that we are heading in the right direction,” Falcons head coach Craig Ingebrigtsen said.

“It’s not every day that a front-rower with over 150 first grade games and an NRL premiership comes onto the market and we are very excited about securing his services for the next two years.”
