Don't forget Aikin is fairly new to first grade NRL. He comes across as a cluey bloke so expect him to learn defensive patterns sooner than later. Strong runner and actually puts oppositions in two minds.

He was strong tonight in attack. But as SuperCoach would say his defence is a work in progress

He's a good footballer and will keep improving. I expect to see Mile in place of Lafai next week (assuming he is suspended). If not we'll see Milne in round 7.

I am happy to get off Aitken's back as as he was one of our best players. When you watch Canberra play you realise how bad our backline has become apart from the individual efforts of Aitken, Dugan, Mc Donald and Widdop. Dodd, Dufty, Field, Herbert, Milne or Nona need to be considered to replace Lafai, McCrone and Nightingale who are spent forces. Even Thompson and Vaughan would be a much better centres than Lafai and could break the line. Next time we play the Eels we should play Thompson centre to close down Radrada.

Those who watched the game or were there surely would have noticed what i did !!! Yes Aitken may struggle Laterally BUT McDonald struggles position reading !!! He needs to stop coming in !! He always running in trying for the intercept glory ..... This was evident against Parra as well !!! Im sure one day he will get the intercept and score a length of the field try but problem is would have let 10 tries in prior.
Can't anyone else see this ???

They were playing an up and in defence yesterday - hence why Mcdonald was consistently compressing.. Not his doing it was quite effective overall.. Great defence..

Kept his opposite number in check so, improved from his game from last week and scored two tries. Great comeback from the lad.

Not surprising when Mc Donald is a specialist LW and we have him on the right.
To compound it Nighty is a specialist RW and we have him on the left and that is all to do with Mc Fookknuckle not wanting to short arses on the same side in defence.
So he is trying to avoid something he perceives as a problem on 1 side and ultimately gives us a problem on both sides, now that is consistency.

I like Aitkens attitude. After the game he was interviewed by ABC radio and said words to the effect of " last week our defence was not good enough, especially mine".

He didn't make excuses for last week and knows what he needs to improve on. Good to hear from such a young fella.

I agree McDonald is also to blame in fact he causes most of the problems.
Switch nighty and McDonald and the problem will be far less

Vin if I agree. I thought the same thing going back to the intercept. Both him and MacDonald need to stay on their man. That needs to be addressed

I'd like to see Nighty on the right again before we punt him to cutters - really tough to do that to a servant like Jase. Last year he looked really bad on the left and his deficiencies were illuminated. He moved back to the right toward the end of season and looked a lot more like the nighty we remember.

It quite literally makes NO SENSE to have the wingers on their current sides. They are both "nodding and taking one for the team" as the 17 is read out but odds on noether can understand why the drunk one is insisting on current sides

Gutsy comeback, may not have the skill set of a Jamie Lyon, but the kid is all heart and always gives 110 percent, IMO his effort is contagious

That guy Canberra have on the wing, Cotric, is only 18. Big, fast and skillful already! Obviously let Lafai go and Nighty is on his last legs. the club needs to bake a big offer for Cotric to play in the centres. Canberra have 2 good, young centres already.

Nah we shouldn't be buying any backs that first need development in first grade.

We have Milne, Herbert, Mann and Garrick who all have the potential to be playing at an extremely high level for us. But just need the time and patience like Cotric is given in first grade.
