Not saying g it isnt poor planning on the nrl's part that it's gptmthis late in the day butnwhere has this mythical figure of $10mill been plucked from? Why not plan on $9mill or $12mill or some other figure a club may think it will be?

A safe bet would have been to aim at a reasonable $8.5-$9mill with some clauses if you're chasing a star that they'll get more if cap ends up being more.
Wasn't there suggestions that the cap would be around 10 million next year.

Clubs have likely been pushing towards a 9 million cap this year and have exploited the NRL's delay to run at a 10 million cap.

The longer the NRL delay it, the more clubs will jump on board and follow suit.

The NRL will have no option then

Not by the nrl, only media speculation. The nrl has not made any mention of a proposed cap level.

we wouldn't be in this fiasco if Davey Boy Smith was still in charge

We'd likeLy have a $2.2 billion deal and a ninth game to look forward to. He did a great job getting $925mill out of nine, he should have been given the opportunity to sell fox simucast and an extra ninth exclusive game for $1billion.

How long until we see player strike in NRL, like US sports?

I think difference is players know nrl is also paying for grassroots where as in NFL theplayers just see A very rich organisation getting richer at their expense. Players in nrl will only push so hard knowing that further would damage the game.

Players have said numerous times that they got there money in the last broadcast deal and they want better conditions this time round. The Nrl obviously know that and have also low balled. Why would the nrl offer overs?? The salary cap will be somewhere between the initial offer and $10mil. It's simple negotiating.

What will be interesting is, by the nrl putting all the extra player welfare conditions in the salary cap, It actually lowers the amount the players do receive. If the players want more money the nrl will obviously take the conditions off the table. Interesting times to come.
