Why Gallen and Farah?

Farah ran sideways too much and stifled the attack.

Gallen kept getting in the way, making it hard for the NSW halves to run the gameplan.

In regards to Gallen's effort in 2011, that would be the peptides.
Maybe true, but Gals worst origin game is still better that Mythchell's best, and unlike Pearce, Gal has actually touched the shield.

Farah needs no explanation.... but here is one anyway.

The guy is the most selfish spine player ever to lace up a boot. Cannot hack not being the centre of all attacking play, and constantly ruined momentum trying his dumb blind side plays and 4th tackle kicks.

As for Gallen, his only problem was being involved too much when the ball got into the red zone. The amount of times he popped up at first or second receiver on an attacking play inside queensland's 20 was ridiculous. However, Gallen also had the bitch of a job of having to carry a parade of garbage props that NSW continually selected to play alongside him, so I can forgive him for thinking he had to do everything considering when it came to making yards, it was basically the truth.

Frankly I think Gallen takes a lot of the heat for origin failures that should be more squarely aimed at Greg Bird

That depends.

If we win tonight or in three weeks how will you feel about me saying it was definitely Gallen's fault?

Well that's a given.
It's already been said...after 1 game against a hugely under strength QLD side.

See how they go tonight.

Farah stifling the attack and being selfish is a meme. It has little basis in reality. NSW lost 3 series in a row before Farah even got a look in. Game 1 of 2009 when he gets a start, Kurt Gidley single handedly loses the match. NSW only look threatening once Craig Wing physically shoved Gidley out of the way at dummy half. Gidley literally stifled the NSW attack, but in a bizarre twist of fate, Farah ends up being labelled as the one who stifled the attack. Farah gets blamed for loss which leads him to play injured the next match. NSW lose again, Farah is roundly criticised and dumped from the side.

In 2010, with no Farah in the side, NSW lose their first match with Brett Kimmorley as halfback. He is replaced by Mitchell Pearce and NSW end up suffering their first Origin whitewash since Fatty's no name side beat NSW 3-0 in 1995. NSW lost the next year as well in 2011 with Pearce leading the side around Micheal Ennis at hooker.

Farah returns to the side in 2012, playing a series with Pearce for the first time. The series decider comes down to a single point. In 2013 the series is decided by two points. In 2014, when Pearce is dumped, NSW miraculously win the series. In a complete coincidence, when Pearce is brought back into the side in 2015 and 2016, NSW suffer humiliating series defeats.

With Gallen's retirement and Farah omitted from the side the NSW commentariat declare that no more will the side be run by selfish players. New South Wales win Game 1 on the back of a dominant forwards performance and the NSW media talk about Pearce's redemption and the building of a dynasty.

Now in Game 2, with the series within their grasp, Pearce goes missing and NSW meekly surrenders their halftime lead and go on to lose the match. Now there's no Farah to be the scapegoat for Pearce. There's no Gallen to blame it on either and NSW head to Lang park for a series decider, knowing full well that they could have won it yesterday and have it all wrapped up.

Bang on.

Gallen and Farah have been the convenient excuse for NSW’s halves’ inefficiencies.

I love the term ‘stifling’ the halves. It’s cute.
Game 2 last night completely contradicts that.

When no one stands up to demand the ball, this is what happens.

The halves and the captain seemed to go missing that 2nd half.

NSW 'play well' when QLD have a shocker. When the QLD team hunker down, the Blues score no points. When QLD fook up, they fix it. When QLD fook up NSW congratulate themselves. NSW have a vastly inflated opinion of just how good they are. Really NSW are only as good as the degree that QLD let them off the hook.

Because the reality doesn't match the fantasy, NSW think they've won a series when they've only won one game. NSW lost 2017 game 2 on the mental level. The scoreboard is merely a reflection on NSW' hubris multiplied by poor decision making.

NSW' problems since 2005 have flowed down from the upper levels of the support mechanism and infected the players. Most of whom are selected for all the wrong attributes. The blind(upper levels) leading the blind(wrong players). Not "Let's select better players" alone(though that is needed). The decision makers are losing the games before the players ever reach the stadiums.

The big problem with the supposed reassessment after the 2010 whitewash was the decision to imitate(in such a mangled fashion) supposed tactics that QLD were deemed to be employing. Go Back and recall what was being touted as rectifying strategy to turn around NSW run of Origin series losses. It was incorrect. Full of mistaken assumptions and half baked conclusions.

QLD are winning because of a combination of better upper structure and better selection. This translates to great players who make better decisions on the field. NSW only seem to shine when QLD take their eye off the game. When QLD play to their structures, NSW don't get a look in.

Possibly one of the biggest pull sessions after a win by anyone on the forums....
And I include myself right through out the finals last year.
and that's saying something.
Enjoy levelling the series
Still 1 game to go
No pressure on NSW while it is all on QLD
They lose this and it will be the biggest choke in Origin history.
Most important game ever for QLD.

Be f**king funny though.

Take a look at Cordner's face in the post-match press conference. Then take a look at Smith's face in the post-match press conference. Now tell me who is under pressure?
