Tony Dosen must have watched the tape of the Guildford's 62-12 win over Blacktown as he details all the scorers in the report hereunder. Maybe Tony will be asked to update the NSWRL website or is the League Unlimited table the official document for the comp and the NSWRL website is irrelevant?

RMC Wrap

The Auburn Warriors kept their Ron Massey Cup finals hopes alive with a stunning upset 22-10 win over the Hills District Bulls in the feature match of the round at Crestwood Reserve last Sunday.

In easily their best performance of the season to date, the Warriors showed they meant business when winger Abraham El-Zakhem finished the visitors’ opening attack with the first try in just the third minute.

Former Blacktown Workers and Manly half Manaia Rudolph converted to give the Warriors an early 6-nil lead.

The Bulls replied in the 15th minute when winger Danyon Barnes scored the home side’s first try in the corner.

In a tight first half with opportunities at a premium, Rudolph slotted a penalty goal seven minutes from half time to extend the Warriors lead to 8-4, before veteran Bulls prop Mick Hawkings crashed over from close range to score in the shadows of half time.

Ron Massey Cup Representative Chad O’Donnell converted to give the Bulls a 10-8 half time lead.

The grinding arm wrestle continued scoreless into the second half until lock Henry Ah Sam finished off Warriors pressure to score 16 minutes into the second half to regain a 14-10 lead for the visitors with Rudolph’s conversion.

After both sides had chances into the last 15 minutes until Rudolph scored what turned out to be the match winning try with 14 minutes left. He converted his own try to extend the Warriors lead to 20-10.

Rudolph then landed a second penalty goal with five minutes left to seal the 22-10 win - completing a perfect five from five with the boot and a personal tally of 14 points in a man of the match performance.

Competition leaders St Marys had to work extremely hard to overcome a game Cabramatta 34-30 in their match at New Era Stadium last Saturday night to stay on top of the Cup ladder.

Far from being overawed, the Two Blues started the match on fire with two brilliant tries to centre Isaac Montgomery to give Cabramatta an early 8-nil after just eight minutes.

Saints prop Tom Romer and bench player Tom Eisenhuth got replying tries to give the Saints the lead at 12-8 after Aiden Glanville converted both tries, before Two Blues centre Tyla Tamou levelled scores at 12-all after 20 minutes with the Two Blues’ third try.

As both sides went try for try for the rest of the first half, Saints winger John Tuliatu scored his first try to regain the lead for the visitors before Cabramatta second rower Tenisio Ahovelo replied with the Two Blues fourth try wide out to bring the deficit back to 18-16.

Eisenhuth completed his double on the stroke of half time to give St Marys a 22-16 lead at the break.

After a tight, scoreless opening to the second half, the Two Blues struck with Montgomery bringing up his hat trick with 20 minutes left, before bench player Sione Kaivelata put Cabramatta back in front with his try three minutes later – which Brendan Cox finally converted to give the home side a 26-22 lead.

However, just as Cabramatta were entertaining thoughts of the upset of the season, St Marys came back again when bench forward Jamie Hill burst over with 12 minutes left.

Glanville’s conversion allowed the Saints to regain the lead for a second time at 28-26 with 10 minutes to play.

Tuliatu scored his second try to give the Saints a decisive 34-26 lead with seven minutes left after Glanville landed his fifth goal from six attempts – in stark contrast to Cox’s poor night with the boot by comparison in kicking just one goal from seven attempts in the absence of regular kicker and Massey Cup Representative fullback Don Thompson to injury.

Montgomery had the final word for Cabramatta with a remarkable fourth try – and the Two Blues’ seventh try to St Marys’ six – with three minutes left to bridge the gap back to 34-30 after Cox missed one last conversion.

The Saints then held on in the closing stages to secure – with great relief – their seventh straight Massey Cup win.

Finally, the Guildford Owls moved to within striking distance of the Top Four with a 62-12 thrashing of the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles in their postponed Round Four match at McCredie Park last Sunday.

With Shane Hunt and Matt Ryan scoring early tries to set up an early 10-nil lead, things got from bad to worse for Blacktown when centre Ben Fritz was sent to the sin bin by referee Jake Sutherland for allegedly swearing at the referee in the aftermath of Ryan’s try in just the 12th minute.

In Fritz’s absence plus first half injuries that reduced Blacktown to a two man bench and 15 man rotation, Guildford ran riot to set up a commanding 34-nil half time lead on the back of further first half tries to Cameron Eyles, Josh Camroux, Jayden Wheelhouse and Eden Syme. Camroux converted landed five conversions from six attempts by the interval.

Ryan and Hunt completed their doubles early in the second half to continue the rout, before George Lolo and Amanaki Manu got Blacktown on the board with their two tries which were both converted by Kelepi Manu.

Hunt completed his hat trick for the Owls before tries in the closing stages by Mitch Achurch and Tyrone Shelley saw the Owls pass the 60 point mark to complete the thumping win.

Guildford got four competition points on the day – two for the win and two for their scheduled bye, while Blacktown came away with two points for their scheduled bye.

Mounties, Wentworthville, Concord-Burwood-Glebe and Western Suburbs also enjoyed non-playing byes.

St Marys and Wentworthville share the lead on 32 points and have opened up a six point gap on the Bulls on 26, with Mounties and Blacktown Workers sharing fourth spot on 24. Guildford are next on 23 with Concord-Burwood-Glebe on 22.

The Auburn Warriors are still sitting inside the Top Eight after their win on 18, with Wests on 17 and Cabramatta last on 14 points – but still a chance to sneak into the last finals berth.

This weekend sees another reduced round of three games – starting on Saturday at 2pm when the Auburn Warriors play their catch up washed out Round One game against St Marys at Lidcombe Oval.

Sunday’s two games – both at 3pm – sees Wentworthville play Western Suburbs in an all Magpies ‘battle of the birds’ at Ringrose Park, and Guildford take on Mounties at McCredie Park.

A good weekend for Blacktown losing all 3 grades by 50plus! That must be a record for one club on the same weekend.
The club must have rocks in their heads to have sacked Pat Wiesner and then losing all their best players. You would think Ron Massey Cup clubs would be queuing up to sign him knowing that all those good players follow.
Blacktown could be the new Kingsgrove next year.

I think you are right. It is hard to see Blacktown attracting any quality players for years after this fiasco. What I cant understand is how Guildford lost last week after leading 30-6 inside the first half.

You only have to see the team listed that would have played vs Guildford if they hadnt sacked him to realise how silly it was. Pat single handedly did all of their recruiting and they were in a position to win both grades in 2017. I have not seen so many players follow a coach - they loved him. If he ever goes to a club with a big budget theyll be unbeatable and Blacktown will run last next season undoing years of work gaining respect.

Any reason given for getting rid of him? I've never met him but i know a few blokes at Cabra who worked with him and give him huge wraps

Interesting. As far as I can tell LU is up to date although we have Wenty on 30, not 32. All the other ladder points and the order seem to be correct.

Updated the scorers for Guildford v BWSE anyway.

I believe he and Brad Prior do not see eye to eye and coach in different ways and with Brads dad now being on the Board and sponsoring/running the club there was only going to be one outcome. Manly also wanted Westfields High School Football program locked away and now have Wayne Lambkin and Steve Hales as their 20s and NSW Cup coaches and both are Westfields Sports football coaches.

Must be pretty embarrassing for Brad Prior and their Shield coach when 40 players do not want to hang around and play for them.

Auburn with an upset win over St Marys although the Saints will get 2 points from the scheduled bye anyway. Auburn's win has made it very difficult for Wests & Cabra to get off the bottom and make the eight now.

Auburn Warriors 38
(D Minute 2, T Carr, J Bergamin, T El Masri, A El-Zakhem, M Utai tries; M Rudolph 5 goals) def St Marys 16 (M Place, J Hill, G Daniela treis; A Davis 2 goals)

Auburn were very impressive in both attack and defence. St Marys produced plays to take them into the red zone on several occasions but the Auburn defence was rock solid on most occasions. On 28 May St Marys beat Auburn 48-6 but the sides today had only 7 survivors in each team, the difference being that most of the 10 changes for Auburn were stronger options whereas the reverse was true for the Saints.

I guess when the competition was designed to spend 25 weeks to determine the 2 weakest teams, there is little urgency to put your team in place until late June rather than March, and that is exactly what Auburn has done. If Guildford beat Mounties tomorrow, it is not impossible for Auburn to make the top 4.

St Marys conceded only 21 tries in their first 11 games and another 14 tries in the last 2 games - a massive reversal in fortunes.

SS

Moorebank Rams 30
(R Talemaivanikuva 3, Z Hethrington, J Gibbons tries; K Hayman 4 goals) def. St Marys 22 (F Enese 2, N Betar, J Toby tries; A Glanville 3 goals)

An even worse result for Saints in the SS, being beaten by bottom ranked Moorebank. All the experienced players have disappeared from the St Marys line up.

How is my man kurt deluis going with Wentworthville in the Ron cup ??

DeLuis has maintained his spot on the bench despite pressure from additional players signed by Wenty that has seen a few guys relegated to the Shield team. Wenty have now won 10 games, behind only St Marys with 11.

East Campbelltown Eagles 42 (C Moustakas 2, B Baker 2, A Tovio, J Da Silva, C Standing tries; B Baker 7 goals) def Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles 16 (A Manu, D Rikiriki, K Wyld tries; A Manu, K Manu 2 goals)

Wentworthville Magpies 40 (S Sisifa 2, J Rika 2, J Mati-Leifi, K Mackenzie, S Lasalo tries; B Newton 6 goals) def Western Suburbs Magpies 28 (J Fran 2, B Higgins, J Kaufusitua, H Taala tries; K Coakes 4 goals)

Interesting to see Dylan Izzard relegated to SS after playing an NRL trial for the Raiders this year, as Mounties re established a 1 win lead over St Marys at the top of the table despite an admirable challenge from 4th placed Guildford. Izzard made way for the inclusion of Yileen Gordon in RMC. In the other competitive game, a poor completion rate from Belrose in the first half saw Asquith establish a 14-0 lead. The Eagles lifted in the second half but were unable to reduce the margin.

RMC
Wentworthville Magpies 38
(D Barakat 2, M Stanfield, R Armstrong, j Walsh, F Dibley, J Martin, B Cook tries; J Walsh 2, J Rafferty-Butfield goals) def Western Suburbs Magpies 4 (K Atkinson try)

Guildford Owls 24 (M Ryan, J Wheelhouse, M Achurch, J King tries; J Camroux 4 goals) def Mounties 12 (C Taripo, Y Gordon, H Raiwalui tries)

Mounties stumbled to their 4th consecutive loss while Wenty had a less complicated task.

Occured to me I didn't have the post-dated Round 20 match included in my ladder.

St Marys and Wenty now leading the comp on 34 each

Solely because Wenty have been credited with more byes. Byes are worth nothing because every club will receive the same number (let us hope) and the clubs should not get any points for them, it just makes it look as if the clubs have won a lot of games that don't exist. The system that applies in US sport is much superior ie percentages so it doesn't matter if clubs have played a different number of games.

Quite simply, St Marys is still in front because both clubs have played 13 games and St Marys has won 11 and Wenty has won 10. Mounties position is worse than presented because they have played 14 games.

The Belrose/Asquith scorers have updated in NSWRL website.

Yep, all sorted on our site too from what I can see. Bye points are a joke, I don't know why any of NRL, QRL or NSWRL bother with them.

Interesting to see that Ryde Eastwood are running 2 U/19 teams in the combined comps with the main team leading the top division. None of the Balmain clubs have enough players to field a an U/19 team so the players have been fed to Ryde Eastwood. This is the first time that the Hawks have had a standalone team since the 2004 Jim Beam Cup and it is probably another 15 years before that they appeared in the Junior League.

Sounds like a possible base for launching a SS side if 7 or 8 experienced players were signed but there have been some previous posts suggesting that the NSWRL wants to destroy the SS.

RMC Video Highlights Round 19

http://www.nswrl.com.au/news/2017/07/18/highlights_ron_masse.af_seniors_seniors_news.html

The Auburn Warriors put the rest of the Ron Massey Cup competition on notice for the remainder of the season with a storming 38-16 upset win over competition leaders St Marys in their postponed Round One match at Lidcombe Oval last Saturday.

After the Warriors opened the scoring with a Manaia Rudolph penalty goal in the second minute, the home side then made the most of their greater enthusiasm in the early exchanges when second rower David Minute got the opening try in the 11th minute. Rudolpfh added the extras for an 8-nil Warriors lead.

St Marys then were able to secure the ball for long enough to set up position for former Blacktown Workers five eighth Matt Place to score the Saints’ first try in the 20th minute, reducing the Warriors lead to 8-4.

The Warriors then continued to bustle the competition leaders into error for the remainder of the half, and took further advantage when a superb inside out pass by Rudolph sent fullback Tom Carr away to score six minutes from half time for a 12-4 lead with Rudolph’s conversion.

In the shadows of half time, a left side shift by the Warriors sent centre Josh Bergamin – who, like Carr, was in the Warriors lineup from the Canterbury Intrust Super Premiership side on their bye – bursting away to score. Rudolph converted to give the Warriors a handy 18-4 lead at the break.

Rudolph – having an outstanding game – then laid on a grubber kick for Minute to score his second try 13 minutes into the second half to extend the Warriors lead to 22-4.

The Saints then threatened to mount a comeback three minutes later when bench forward Jamie Hill ran off a short pass to barge over from close range to score. Adrian Davis converted to ring the score back to 22-10.

However, after another Saints error in with 16 minutes left, Warriors centre Tarek El-Masri burst through down the right side from the scrum to score the match turning try and a 26-10 Warriors lead.

The Warriors made sure of their second straight upset win over Top Four opposition when winger Abraham El-Zakhem burst through three defenders down a right side shift to score with seven minutes left. Rudolph’s conversion had the Warriors out of sight at 32-10.

Saints skipper Geoff Daniela got a consolation try down the St Marys right side with four minutes left which Davis converted, before evergreen former Canterbury NRL Premiership winger Matt Utai scored a superb chip and chase individual try in the final minute to put the exclamation mark on the Warriors win.

It was a win worth four competition points to the Warriors as they were on a scheduled bye, while the Saints came away from the weekend with two points from their scheduled bye.

The Guildford Owls continued their charge at a Top Four finish with a hard fought 24-12 win over double defending premiers Mounties in their match at McCredie Park last Sunday.

In a contest where the arm wrestle went for nearly the whole 80 minutes, the Mulga started the stronger when former Cabramatta and Newtown winger Chris Taripo got the opening try in the corner in the 18th minute.

It appeared that Mounties were slowly gaining the upper hand when experienced centre Yileen ‘Buddy’ Gordon finished off a movement for a try eight minutes from half time to double the visitors’ lead to 8-nil.

The Owls started their comeback in the shadows of half time when second rower Mat Ryan scored Guildford’s first try, which Josh Camroux converted to have Mounties in front 8-6 at the break.

Both sides could not take the limited chances that came in the arm wrestle that ensued in the first 20 minutes of the second half, until Guildford broke the game open.

Winger Jayden Wheelhouse gave Guildford the lead with 20 minutes left with a converted try, before second rower Mitch Achurch burst clear to score on the Owls’ next attacking set three minutes later. Camroux again converted to extend the Guildford lead to 18-8.

Opposite Guildford winger Jeremy King then sealed the win when he scored with 12 minutes left. Camroux converted for a 24-8 lead.

Former Blacktown Workers utility Henry Raiwalui – playing in the centres – scored the Mulga’s consolation try final minute.

Finally, Wentworthville came away in the second half to beat Western Suburbs 38-4 in the all-Magpies ‘battle of the birds’ at Ringrose Park last Sunday to complete the reduced round.

Wentworthville drew first blood when veteran skipper Mitch Stanfield scored the opening try in the 10th minute. Jake Walsh converted for a 6-nil lead.

Wests matched Wentworthville in the arm wrestle over the next 20 minutes – and were rewarded 10 minutes from half time when representative half Brendan Waters threw a dummy before sending the last pass to second rower Kurt Atkinson to score what would be Wests’ only points.

Wentworthville then took control late in the first half – with Rhys Armstrong galloping through a gap to score eight minutes from the break, before winger Danny Barakat finished off a left sided move with two minutes left in the half to score his first try. Walsh converted to give the home side a 16-4 lead at the break.

Any hope of a Wests comeback ended when a Josh Davis dropped ball seven minutes into the second half was swooped upon by Walsh who raced away to score for a 20-4 lead.

Wentworthville then put the result beyond doubt six minutes later when another Walsh pass sent centre Finlay Dibley over to score, before NRL Rookie runner up Jordan Martin scored from the set following the restart to blow the home side’s lead out to 28-4.

Bench player Blake Cook finished off another bust up the middle with 20 minutes left to score Wentworthville’s seventh try, before Barakat completed his double with five minutes left to round out the 38-4 win.

Cabramatta, Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles, Concord-Burwood-Glebe, and the Hills District Bulls all enjoyed non playing byes over the weekend.

Despite seeing their seven game winning streak snapped, St Marys still lead the Cup table on 34 points on percentages ahead of Wentworthville (also on 34), with the Bulls back on 28 in third, and Blacktown’s bye seeing them move into the Top Four on 26.

Guildford (25) are in fifth ahead of Mounties (24), with Concord-Burwood-Glebe (24) seventh.

The Warriors four point windfall sees them consolidate their spot in the Top Eight on 22 points – five points clear of Wests on 17, with Cabramatta on the bottom of the table on 16 points.

This weekend sees another reduced round two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday.

The round starts with Wests needing to win their twice-postponed match with the Auburn Warriors at Belmore Sports Ground on Saturday at 1pm to keep their Top Eight hopes alive whilst on a scheduled bye.

Cabramatta play Blacktown Workers in Saturday’s other game at 5pm at New Era Stadium, while Sunday’s matches sees Guildford take on the Hills District Bulls at McCredie Park at 3pm, and St Marys facing Concord-Burwood-Glebe at St Marys Leagues Stadium at 4pm.

Auburn Warriors RMC had a great hard fought win at Belmore Oval today in their twice-postponed match against the Western Suburbs Magpies. Auburn had the majority of the ball in the first half and were great in attack constantly attacking the line and creating plenty of scoring opportunities but the Magpies goal line defence scrambled well, stopping Auburn from running in what looked to be a certain try on many occasions and limiting the half time margin to single digits.
The second half saw both teams being relentless in attack as well as defence but with only 2 players left on the bench due to injury and HIA, the last 20 saw the Auburn Warriors big men really start to tire and the Magpies took advantage and hit back on the scoreboard getting within 2 points with only 4mins left on the clock. The Magpies got the ball within 10m of their try line and were awarded a penalty. They chose to take the tap and through some ad-lib play saw their tackle count restarted twice, then just as they looked certain to score from a line break with 2mins to go Manaia Rudolph pulled off a try saving one on one strip. Auburn then ran the footy down field, putting in a great kick down field on the 5th tackle, over the defence and stopping inside the in-goal and chased hard - meaning the Magpies had about 30 secs to run almost 90m to score to win the game. The Magpies were desperately running the ball hard throwing offload after offload to keep the ball alive but Auburns defence was just as desperate and managed to wrap the ball up mid-field through an intercept after the final siren.

Results | Ron Massey Cup Round 20
Auburn Warriors 26 (A El-Zakhem 2, M Long, M Rudolph, M Utai tries; M Rudolph 3 goals) def Western Suburbs Magpies 24 (S Aiga 2, K Coakes, B Waters, T Mapesone tries; B Waters 2 goals)

Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles 38 (P Aupaau 2, K Manu, A Niulesa, A Manu, S Fitzgerald tries; K Manu 7 goals) def Cabramatta 26 (D Thompson, S Kaivelata, R Verlinden, T Harris, B Cox tries; D Thompson 3 goals)
