It's unlikely but it would be nice if these clubs channeled a bit of 1985/1908 attitude and told the Union to get farked and convert to League full time.

A good way to counter would be to to have links to semi-pro clubs in most/all Pacific Nations so that there is a direct pathway to professional RL. How about putting Fiji in NSW Cup and having them run trials every year in Solomon Islands and vanuatu for example?

Creating professional pathways for everyone, not just hoping Freddie randomly comes accross them on a holiday.

As Usual ECT telling half the story. In the comments to that self same post, the clarification. Funny nothing about banning players at all.

"Solomon Rugby - SIRUF Thanks union and league fanatics for your comment. That shows the passion you guys have for both codes. Should the comment be direct and insulting. I apologize but it was clear SIRUF calendar of events runs from February to November. Any movement or switching during that period is surely inappropriate since it's still middle of the session. Any movement of switch of code can be done after the session (end of November). Inter Island 15s in Setember and Open 7s in October are the final events of SIRUF including the Oceania Cup and Mini Games in December."

So if it's purely for logistical or practical reasons what do we make of this:

SIRUF will stick with players who has the values of rugby and loyal to union.

Are they getting paid? Feb to Nov is an extraordinarily long time, where is their "calendar of events".

Nothing to see here.
Shown to be lying, cant provide any facts, resorts to petty insults. The ECT way

Players aren't banned at all.
They are completely allowed to play rugby league between December 1 and January 31 in the union off season in a tropical South Pacific island. Completely fair,
Are you for real?

They can play League any time they want. They can even continue to play both codes if they want. However the selection criteria is that these players must be playing Rugby exclusively to be picked, Just like the ARL only selects players for the kangaroos who are playing League exclusively.

He is saying that the best time for either code is to switch codes in each off season. Its not that hard to understand.

No player is banned form playing either code.

I should tell my div 5 oztag team that anyone playing indoor soccer or ultimate frisbee on our 6 days off a week will be given a 5 year ban.

Here's the facts.

"Just a WARNING to the following rugby clubs:
Realas, Islanders, Matangiki. If these clubs are participating in the upcoming SIRL tournaments. SIRUF will ban players"

But but but no one is banned.

The Vichy apologist, yet again, apologises for bigots being bigots. The word ban doesn't mean ban now. The vichyball Goebbels says so. The Vichy way.

Why don't you finish that sentence instead of cutting it off... "from playing for Honiara select" which simply means they wont be selected for the representative team... of course that wouldn't fit in your incorrect narrative so you simply don't state the whole thing.

Unless of course you can show what else they are "banned" from... no? didn't think so.

So they are banned.

That's what I thought. Rugby league players banned for playing rugby league. Nothing changes in vichyball.

Union can do what they like, its up to RL to jump in and make our game too good to turn down...

In a way, this can even become an advantage; if RU bans players, the players will stick with RL long term.

So rugby league must rally its comparatively meagre resources for existence and growth despite no government support and the establishment influence rugby union uses to repress rugby league? Hardly fair or sportsmanlike? Rugby union is incredibly scared of rugby league's superior product as this universal repressing of a sport in rugby league is relatively unknown by the general public at large and the well hidden bigotry in many areas of power . A superior code is being repressed simple as that !And you say Rugby union can do what they like! Human rights issues are at play here. Granted we are talking about sport and its a code(RL)that can benefit mankind due to its inclusive rules on field and nature off field far more than the antiquated rugby version of union. RL deserves better and the repression should be known and stopped!

Are you really that simple? its eligibility criteria.. that's like saying all the wallabies are banned from playing for the Kangaroos, which they are. The simple FACT is no one is banned from playing League. But if you were not exclusively playing Rugby you were not eligible to be selected for a Rugby representative team. And if you have a problem with that, you have a problem with most team sports, including League.
