It's from Buzz so taking this with a grain of salt, but looks like Union wankery strikes again...

POOR CANADIANS LEFT HIGH AND DRY

NRL players might want to spare a thought for our Canadian rugby league cousins while bickering over millions in their next pay deal.

The Canadian World Cup teams don’t receive a cent of funding from the Canadian government as they refuse to recognise rugby league and union as separate sports.

The women’s team — the Ravens — are doing their own fundraising to get to Australia for the World Cup later this year.

The dopey merkins are happy to recognise ice hockey and field hockey as different sports though I'm sure.

Thanks for the update Pom. Always look forward to your postings.Hope she is not trying league because her age may prevent her getting in the Union team.

Let's be fair dinkum, the Canadian team is going to be 90% union players who didn't make the Canadian union team, for one reason or another. If they're going to be included that's the way it has to be. The key is they will have experienced RL and will hopefully have more opportunities to play in the future. How Canada is able to provide this is the next challenge.

At least union players have a basic skill set, it's a start.
