I wouldn't mind an unshackeled Leisha & he wouldn't b overly expensive.

Bulldogs hooker? I'm surprised he's still off contract tbh. We should grab him

I'm more confident in his ability than I would be with mcillwrick and Liddle combined

Hear hear.Leisha is a talented player who has been manacled by the degenerate Hasler. He is way ahead of our 2 average hookers.

Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary interested in reuniting with Matt Moylan
Adrian Proszenko

Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary has revealed he would be interested in signing Matt Moylan if the Penrith skipper's troubles resulted in him becoming a free agent.

Moylan will play no part in Penrith's finals campaign after being granted leave to deal with mental health issues. The Panthers skipper has been unsettled at the foot of the mountains, with officials concerned about his application to rehabilitation and tardiness with other club commitments. Rival clubs have been watching the situation with interest, although few would have the salary cap money required to accommodate a player of Moylan's calibre.

One club that still has cash and roster spots available is the Tigers. The joint-venture outfit is yet to settle on a fullback for 2018 despite snaring utility Tui Lolohea mid-season. Cleary also has the advantage of having a strong relationship with Moylan from their time together at Penrith, where the coach handed the playmaker his NRL debut.

Moylan remains contracted to the Panthers for four more years, but Cleary would be interested if he were to come onto the open market.

"My understanding is he wants to stay and he's never stated he wants to leave," Cleary said.

"But it's been a big deal, right? Would I be interested? Yes.

"That hasn't happened yet, so it's speculation."

Pressed on the prospect of adding Moylan to an impressive list of recruits that already includes Josh Reynolds, Benji Marshall, Russell Packer, Chris McQueen and Ben Matulino, Cleary said: "Yeah, possibly. I rate him as a player and as a person."

Moylan was a surprise choice for the Panthers captaincy and has struggled with the responsibilities that come with the role. There has also been ongoing speculation about his best position after he made his long-awaited shift from fullback to five-eighth.

Moylan and Cleary have remained in contact since the latter left Penrith. The coach has been surprised by revelations the former NSW playmaker has been struggling off the field.

"I've got a lot of time for Matt," Cleary said.

"He debuted for us at the Panthers in 2013, a well-known local junior and made an immediate impact.

"I really enjoyed coaching him and have kept a relationship with him since. I just find him a terrific kid and great player. I'm not too sure what's happened there. I'd hate to feel as though he has too much to do.

"Knowing Matt for what he is I'm sure he hasn't done anything wrong.

"I hope it works out one way or another for him."

James Tedesco, who won the players' player award at the Tigers' presentation night on Tuesday, will head to the Roosters in the off-season. The Tigers are yet to lock in the NSW fullback's replacement.

"A guy like James Tedesco is basically impossible to replace and when it happened it was like we're not going to go down that strategy of buying like for like because there weren't really any around," Cleary said.

"That role is probably up for grabs. Tui Lolohea is in the box seat there but there's probably another signing somewhere along the line for someone who could help fill that role."

The NRL and the players have come to an in-principle agreement for a $9.4 million salary cap for next year. Some clubs have overshot the mark, with the Tigers in a position to benefit if there is a firesale of star players.

"There's a couple of spots [to be filled]," Cleary said. It's a weird situation with the new contracting system coming in next year.

"There will be a lot of players off contract and possibly falling out of other clubs. We'll sit back and see how it goes, we're not in a hurry at the moment. There's a few other spots left."

Cronulla is understood to be one of several other clubs interested in signing Moylan in a move that would allow the premiers to grant James Maloney an early release.

Lichaa was on another level the last 3 games for the doggies. Probably the reason why they won 3 straight

It's like Hasler finally gave him a license to run the f**king ball

If he bought that form here I would be over the moon

Hasler didn't give him licence. I'm pretty sure he came out in the media and said "Bulldogs are letting me go so I will play my way. I have to secure my future."

Funnily enough he has the three best games of his time at Canterbury. Everyone said for the longest time that he was a dud, all he needs to do is get away from Hasler.

I don't often agree with Josh Massoud but he was bang on this morning when he said the Dogs winning their last three and Lichaa having a huge hand in it was probably the worst thing that could have happened for Des as it shows that his approach is not working. Lichaa has basically shown everyone that Des is not playing his team to their strengths.

Geez Moylan would b a perfect fit for us as we have nobody in the spine who is anywhere near his league. My reliable sources tell me we can afford him.

It really may depend on whether IC is discreetly planning on luring his superstar son to Concord in 2 yrs time assuming IC still has a job coz if we miss the 8 the next 2 yrs the shit is seriously going to hit the fan & it'll b Groundhog Day again @ Concord !

Its also y I don't bloody understand y we signed Reynolds to 4 yrs on b/s money(He's not worth 1c > 450k & a contract for only 2yrs).Theres no justification to have acted so hastily when he wasn't being offered big money by any other club. Its a DUMB signing & him & Brooks r not compatible.Neither player is a quality playmaker which is what we r desperately missing !!

Who knows...if the dogs get back in shape he may end up back home before his contract is up here...in any case we will probably have a few asking for early releases to pursue starting spots elsewhere by the time '19 rolls around

Reynolds is always an option at hooker. I don't think Liddle will be ready for next year, and MM dropped off toward the end of this year.

A few months back I was visiting a mate at Bathurst and we decided to go to the Panthers/Raiders game they held out there. I have to admit I was really impressed with Moylan that night. It was that big comeback where the Panthers scored twice in the last 3 minutes.

Moylan was absolutely screaming for the ball. He backed himself to set up a try both times and it was one of these last ditch efforts we never seem to be able to produce. I am not saying we should or will get him but if we do I will say he was a game breaker that night and I left thinking I'd like him at the WT.

Andrew Webster was saying on the BSB this morning that his mail is Moylan will be coming to us if he does decide to leave.

It's seems clear that it's an untenable position he's in as Gould has sided with the coach whose praises he was absurdly singing loud & clear when he signed him.Hope MM does end up @ Concord coz we desperately need him in an otherwise very average spine !

From the mail I've got either one of Moylan or Cleary will end up here within the next two years. From my understanding also Penrith would rather let Moylan go over Cleary.

My mate tells me he's not happy there but is still not confirmed anywhere else yet. He said it wouldn't surprise him if he wound up at the Sharks though.

I am not sure how that happens though as Maloney would need to go, and the Sharks aren't prepared to give him a pay rise for 2018 so why would they part pay for him to play elsewhere.

Yeah exactly, they are the Cronulla Sharks, not the Wests Tigers. We only recently found out that we didn't have to be paying other players salaries. I think it will be interesting times ahead.

Does Moylan want to play fullback though?

I think he does, hopefully I get the good word that he's got an Opal card, but at this point it's doubtful.

5. Josh Addo-Carr (8)

Scored the opener, set up the Storm’s last and denied the Eels another with a critical tackle on Auva’a. A lot of fuss was made about the clash of Vunivalu and Radradra during the week but they forgot about the ‘other’ winger Addo-Carr, one of the bargain buys of 2017 at $140,000 for the season.

f**k, I hope these figures are not true. What a goose Taylor has proven to be.

If its true Bayley is leaving, then I'm trying to understand why we gave him a first grade run. We could have tried someone else from the lower grades or shifted Marsters into the second row and given Heleta a run.
