I'm not great with estimating figures so I won't argue with that. But the point I'm trying to get across is that cowboys were missing their best player and their best prop. Credit must be given where credits due.
I reckon Scott is a shadow of the player he was and easily replaceable. But Thurston is obviously much better than TMM and he has been a massive loss. But then they have another Origin half who normally plays second fiddle. With Thurston out it left space for him to take on more responsibility. They also have Coote as a playmaking and kicking option.

The Cowboys, for whatever reason, are able to assemble a much better squad than most teams. They cope pretty easily with the loss of players.

Scott is definitely on more than 500k, it remains to be seen how he will perform after the injury he sustained but he was one of the elite forwards in the game before he got injured

Scott hasn't been an elite forward since 2014. He is obviously still a first grader but by 2016 he was at about the Darcy Lussick level. Then 2017 started and he picked up a season ending injury at the age of 32. His value dropped massively and then he re-signed for two years.

His last contract might've been over $500k but he was worth more then as well.

Forgot to mention, congrats to asiata for breaking his duck after 76 games. Best halfprop the clubs ever had
My parents caught a flight the Cowboys were on earlier this season, dad sat next to Asiata. Said he was a really nice guy, was impressed with the behaviour of the whole squad. So good to see him score that try.

Cowboys got a lot out of Coote last night. Gives another quality kicking option. Between Morgan, Coote, granville there's no one player opposition can shut down to avoid quality kicking and ends to sets. If the Cowboys forwards hold their own - and it's a pretty damn solid pack - they'll always be dangerous.

When a 32 year old signs a two year extension he's probably not on too much given the expectation of declining performance over the life of the contract. I wouldn't be surprised if he was on $300k or less per season.

Cool story bro

Tell us again how your boys were the underdogs last night because only three of them had played finals footy and you were missing some players

Every team is missing players at this time of the year, but something that premiership contenders have in common is big game experience. That describes the Cowboys not the Eels. We just happened to sneak into the top four due to consistency.

It bodes well for the future (all our players have finals experience now and we'll have a couple in Origin next year) but this wasn't going to be our year. Like the Cowboys/Sharks showed last week, finals is a brand new competition. Even the Storm were shown to be beatable last week.

It's very exciting.

It's what comparing Matt Scott to darcey f**king lussick deserves
Lussick had a career best season last year while Scott was far from his best. Then 2017 happened and Scott only played two games. Lussick was worth a lot more than Scott this year, and next year the two players will be 29 and 33, so I would expect Lussick to be worth more next year as well.

Lol.

You've been PouPou'ed....try telling him the colour of the sky...

Anyway didn't Scott re-sign after doing his knee? At 32 with a busted knee and having been passed on bu the Knights as a result he would hardly be on squillions.

The question is though how much was he worth this year isn't it. 2016 He was starting prop for Australia, QLD and North Queensland and contributed to getting his side to a prelim final. 2015 he won a premiership. Plenty of players especially the elite play well into their 30s including Scott until he had his ACL done. Lussick is a plodder whose best year was still far short of Scott.

In addition to this the Cowboys had just lost a lot of experience up front in Tamou and Hannant as well.
