Updated Scotland team and stream details. They have drafted in some of the Scotland students squad as cover for this game...

Scotland will keep their stars out of the firing line when they play their only Rugby League World Cup warm-up match on Friday night.

The Bravehearts face New South Wales Country Under-23s at Ballina, close to their training camp at Lennox Head and Maclean, the ‘Scottish town of Australia’.

Callum Phillips is recovering from a training ground collision and Dale Ferguson is tending to a sore hamstring, while the likes of captain Danny Brough, Luke Douglas, Matty Russell and Danny Addy are being kept out of action before the real competition kicks off against Tonga in Cairns a week on Sunday.

Hull KR’s teenage winger Will Oakes will pull on a Scotland jersey for the first time having flown in from the UK in midweek, a late call-up to replace Toronto Wolfpack half Ryan Brierley, who failed to recover from a hand operation.

Oakes has yet to represent Scotland at any level but qualifies thanks to his mother who is from Falkirk.

Three members of the Scotland Students side who are playing their club rugby in New South Wales have joined the squad this week and will bet a game against Country:

Australian-based Liam Fauglin and Luke Westman, along with full internationalist Lewis Clarke, the former Edinburgh Eagles half-back previously based in Galashiels. Penrith youngster Lachlan Stein, Sydney Roosters' centre Jarred Anderson, New Zealand Warriors' forward James Bell and Toulouse Olympique brothers Andrew and Kane Bentley will also make their Scotland debuts.

The NSW Country game will be streamed live on CountryRL’s website - crlnsw.com.au - on Friday from 7pm AEDST (9am UK time).

The opening game against Tonga will be shown live on Premier Sports TV in the UK, kick off 8.15am GMT, as will the second group game away to New Zealand on Saturday, 4 November.

The final group game against Samoa back in Cairns will be live on free-to-air FreeSportsTV, on channel 95 of Freeview sets and 424 on Sky boxes. It will be only the second time that a Scotland international has been shown live and in full on British free-to-air television.

Pretty disappointing that the most competitive warm up game, Italy v Tonga, won't be streamed.

I registered and got the app, checked the match centre and the game isn’t even listed, the next game is against the Kangaroos. What time is kick off and do you know what the time difference is between Perth and NSW please.

Should be 6pm Perth / 8pm Sydney
In 30 min

Scotland was dominating the game then two dropped balls and its 10 all. This is the longest 20 min quarter ever...sure they have forgotten about playing in quarters?

Scotland have lost a few key players before the tournament started from last years 4 Nations squad, this team looks pissweak.

First 15 mins of the warm up game they looked really sharp....now....gee they are down 20-10 and look horrible.

I know they are missing some players from their RLWC squad for this game but you would expect them to still win this game.

To be fair, they have rested their key players, are only just together and 3 of NSW Country's tries have come about from the Scots errors, this sure beats the other game that is live streamed.
Crikey just realised they are woman playing!

To be fair they are playing an U23 side and they are getting owned.

Gee what an absolute embarrassment for Scotland....regardless of who was missing they have been disgraceful against a U23 side.

I really think they will get slaughtered in all three games in the RLWC. Even with their 'stars' playing....

50-14. They should have played the affiliated states and England should have played Country. Lucky the NRL forced the CRL to throw all its over 23s on the rep football scrap heap. Imagine what a full strength Country Firsts would have done.

Don't underestimate just how good our sides are, we do have to develop other nations and it does take time, while League is established in a few counties in England there are other countries within the UK that want to suceed it's just that the Rugby Union continue to supress their development!.

There’s nothing to suggest that Scotland want to succeed at rugby league. We have a team in Canada in the system and probably another 2 NA sides entering in the near future.
What’s happening in Scotland apart from a load of English and Ozzie players getting rep jerseys every off season?
