Surely Alex Doolan is the next cab off the rank. In big run scoring form, done the job before....such an underrated cricketer. He could even slot straight into the VC role

I remember back in 2013/14, just before South Africa and LU was in meltdown for Doolan.

He lasted...what...two tests? Selectors didn't appreciate his levers.

Surely given Bancroft's struggles he was a better option to take than either Handscomb or the extra quick? The quick won't play unless there's injuries, and the real weaknesses atm are Bancroft and Khawaja...

He’s responded well to being dropped, that’s a great sign.

Not sure why they took Handscomb on tour. Whilst his record is decent, he looked completely lost over the summer. His technique was terrible.

Handscomb has a pretty arrogant attitude towards his technique. It got him where he is and he is refusing to change, problem is that its also the reason he got dropped.

Apparently originally the spare batsman was to be Burns as he had more utility value but he was under an injury cloud so they defaulted to Handscomb. At least that's what Julian was saying during commentary during the first test.

Nothing at all wrong with his technique if it works for him. Much like the late Phil Hughes, his head is the issue.

Refusing to drive at all will not be a successful approach. Last summer he was driving well and he scored heaps, this season he hasn't even looked like driving and he's been dropped.
