Tyrone Peachey.... Best position?

One of a biggest failings this year was having hole runners as good as Yeo/CHN and still not using our centres deep. Peach and Blake don't need to be put into gaps all they need is to be one on one with defenders. Awful coaching......no worse, sheer incompetence really

Given the only players of real significance coming off contract next season are Kikau Mansour & Wallace you would have to think we will have to make some cap space from somewhere to retain the first two and extend Clearys deal. Wallace will retire but I don’t think he would be on big money. Peachy could be someone the club may look to offfload a year early.

They be stupid to get rid of Peachy. Wallace is in the spine and would be on reasonable money. Enough at least once he retires you could promote a rookie and give Cleary the leftover cash.

I think peachy speculation will never go away due to the massive whare contract. If he is off the bench he will leave us, no doubts about that.
It is just such a strange situation, someone is going to miss out or get very limited minutes.
We need stability in our squad, I think peaches form suffered from all the changing.
Griffin has to pick and stick, luckily both players are very talented but I would rather see Egan and or May on the bench than peaches.

Peachey say $300k? May $100k. If May isn't in a set position could be seen as the cheaper to keep. Personally I'd keep both but that is just me

‘Club stuffed him around’ is a bit much maybe. We shifted him from the forwards, to the halves, to hooker and then to the centres. They’ve used him as a stop gap for years, we are a much better side last year with him in the centres. We have terrible attack and people want one of the few guys who creates opportunities for us on the bench.

He’s either a centre, backrow or utility. Decide and let him play that role.

IMO Griffin won’t pick him in the forwards and play him big minutes, we’ve seen that already when he was getting two little stints off the bench last year.

He is a work in progress at centre maybe with the pre season as a centre he can improve even further. Hook seems to like size in the forwards so would be an issue. Though for me he offers more starting then CHN does. Less errors then Kikau and I want Merrin prop.

The use of Peachey and the centres fullstop so poorly is so far Griffins biggest fail. Who knows maybe Cleary being 12 months older and Maloney will fix the centre issue

Whare was your best player in Finals or atleast top 3.
He is 27. If he plays 5 yrs he finishes at age 32.

Players do not start to drop from peak till atleast 30. Do guys forget he was top 3 centre in game before these injuries. And perhaps no 1 in defense.
I reckon may of picked him up for less then half the cost of what he is worth if regains form. And in finals he started too look like that player.

In week 1 Whare was great. Week 2 he got destroyed early on... before Oates got knocked out his defence with DWZ was as bad as it gets.

Theres also no minimum age for players to drop from their peak. Every player is different. Injuries. Motivation. Their playing style becoming obsolete etc. All factor in. Outside backs decline a lot quicker than other positions too.

He's the same as a rookie with potential right now. We know what he could do but it's a whether he will manage it consistently. He also is competing against a guy who was starting to be talked about for origin until the positional shifting.

Kurt Mann spoke recently about being a "utility" and said what we've been saying, players want to get given a position to make their own.

Yeah forwards seem to do well when between 27 - 32 Vs backs which are better a bit younger, not always of course.

He has an advantage where speed has never been a factor in his game so unlike someone like James Roberts age shouldn't hurt too much. The body is more the concern though

Kurt Mann, lol

The only position he is making his own is unemployment.

Peachey defense will not allow him too play origin.

Look at Jennings.2015 and 2016 form ordinary.
2017 back to his best.

Centre is also a position that when a teams playing well you get a chance to shine and look good.

In last 8 games whare missed 7 tackles when at centre and 3 errors.

Peachey missed 16 tackles amd 5 errors

Blale 19 tackles and 11 errors.

This is when players at centre.
Peach and Blake offer more in attack. But defense, no chance.

To build a good side you build a good defense first and work from that.

There are 4 or 5 guys in the team that need to work on thst. Including RGC. His defense is ordinary at times for a middle forward who is mobile.

Mentally if a team feels like they cant make any inroads they panic and change game plan. Even if its 8-0.Look at the storm. If they are 8 infront its almost game over.

At 16 - 0 up not many penrith fans would feel the same. The defense can leak to easily so mentally it keep the other side in it.

Go rewatch the game against Broncos. Roberts and Oates tore Whare and DWZ apart so easily they didnt even get a hand on them to miss the tackles. That game and a game against Soiths were as bad as Peachey at his absolute worst.

Both were poor defenders. Similar missed tackle rate over the season. Blake was actually our best defensive centre when at right centre. Up until his f**ked shoulder. Then he made Peachey look like Matt Cooper in defence.
