So... what was up with White? Hasn't he been left out of Victorianias Shield team? He played as a specialist bat at number eight and showed no urgency or willingness to do anything over than get a red inker for the average. Found his selection bizarre.

Aust selectors need a good kicking too.

The killer bowlers in BBL7 have been spinners and big hitters.

Aust needed 50 more runs both games. The top 6 have failed bar Finch and the fat merkin gets out after tonning up.

The tactics are shit. The selections are shit. Easily rectified but won't happen.

Bizarre is being kind.

The selection is a joke. Uzi would hit better.

Don't know where u been past 3 seasons but Smithy dont trust spinners with the white ball.

I only watch it because my dad watched it...

Honestly, its dead as a format. The heyday of the circus long gone and shifted to T20. We should be playing 2-3 more tests in January with the BBL.

Nah - while Kohli is on track to break all records - its the format with the most life and demand incl t20

Hopefully Haze will be match fit for Sydney and that we will pick a legit spinner. Our spinners were just useless whilst the English spinners did well. Drop Cam White there are at least 4 other options that will do fine and play a more aggressive brand of cricket.

On the positive side I thought Richardson did very well with the ball and was the pick of our bowlers and Carey filled in well for Paine. Good performances by those 2 on debut.

Australia have been traditionally aggressive in this form of the game.

Smith is lucky to be holding his spot in ODI

What do you base the tradition on? Certainly not Swampy and Tubby.

Bar Dean Jones, Straya havn't really set odi trends nor noted for more aggression than opposition. They've won and been successful by having fantastically talented players and outstanding team balance. Winning teams have less need to innovate if they continue to win.

Straya didn't do things differently, they just executed the basics better. Much better. With stronger XI's than the opposition post WI dominance. The best argument you'll have to counter is Gilly - but Stewart and Kalu preceeded him, Gilly was just better.

The only place Straya was innovative and novelly aggressive (bar Dean Jones' running between wickets) was fielding that started under AB and Bobby Simpson and starred Dean Jones and followed on by the Waughs. But everyone does fielding drills now. Even sub continental sides. And Jonty Rhodes and Chris Harris quickly became the benchmarks at 1992 WC.

There's no great mystery. Your #4 is failing and Marsh is scoring too slow. And theres sfa in the new white kookie ball on Aus pitches for your bowlers to expose both Roy's and Hales' overt frailities. With Lynn, Short and Maxwell in the wings, not to mention new ball wizz's Haze and Pattinson, Aus are well placed for the World Cup. Despite what Eion Morgan or JJ says.

Aus do need to decide on Lyon or Zampa soon though. Or no main spinner at all.

Lets go for broke, World cup 2019 best XI

Finch
Warner
Short
Lynn
Smith
Carey
(MMarsh, Stoinis, Maxwell)
Cummins
Starc
Haze
Lyon

in all seriousness
Still plenty of time to get it right before the world cup. These games now whilst disappointing probably wont mean too much this time next year

Who gives a f**k about ODIs other than children of the 80s?

Currently the Poms, Kiwis, Pakis, Indians and Seth Effrikans

You sound like someone who's team is on a losing run lol come WC you'll care, unless they are still playing like mud

Still think there's a place for ODIs - Australia has more than enough talent to win the WC again, just their approach seems geniused, along with the selections - I mean yeah Cameron White is a better option than Glenn Maxwell - too funny

yep - but in addition to picking a strong team, they need to play an intelligent game

I agree with that side, we have way too many all-rounders, they're picking Head, Stoinis and Marsh and I can see why, they can all offer something with the ball but we're just not getting the runs at the moment. What we desperately need is a significant contribution from either Warner, Smith or Head so we can allow the likes of Stoinis and Marsh to come out swinging with 10 overs to go.

They should give Short a crack in replacement of Head, why not? they both bowl part-time spin and Short has been lighting it up in the BBL, it can't be any worse than what Head has given us with the bat.

Obviously Maxwell would be the better choice but to me it feels like they're trying to send a mental message to Maxwell that his ego-driven flamboyant style of game doesn't have a place in the Australian side, they've done everything to avoid picking him, even if Lynn was fit I am not so sure he would've played every game. Lynn gets injured and they bring in a bloke who himself had given up on Australian selection, yeah nah.. it's more to do with sending a message to Maxwell than it is about White being the better player

I get that, but some of the others are weird too - White's just the extreme
