Yeah went in 2015. Only time I’ve been to a GP, we sat near the start of the DRS straight.

I often think about a trip to the Melbourne GP but it’s Melbourne.

For me it’s the best(& only)part of Melbourne!!
I went to Singapore in 2014. It’s a great event(I love Singapore as a city). Try and get to ground level and watch the cars through a quick corner. Brutally elegant with the grip they generate.

When I can get to Singapore for $140/$150 with Scoot it’s always going to be a clear winner, I love the place and go for a long weekend at least once a year (last year I went for the Foo Fighters gig). Probably going to do the Singapore Race coming back from climbing Mt Kinabalu.

Looking at last years circuit map I’m certain we were on Turn 5 in 2015. A complaint of one of my mates is that the Singapore race has too many straights.

That is a bit of a question mark over Singapore as a good ‘racing’ track(street circuits in general TBH, Baku is pretty good though). Anyway it could be worse, Las Vegas had a track in the car park of Ceasars Palace Casino in the early 80’s!!

I thought the Baku circuit is a pretty good circuit. Last years Singaporw GP was a question of Hamilton by how much especially after the demolition derby at the start of the race.

As someone who lives down here, I've been to the AGP a few times, but just on the Friday and Saturday. I have to say standing just before the braking for T3 is one of the biggest thrills I've had as a spectator. You see them in the distance exiting t2 (which is a long, long way away), and all of a sudden, they're onto you and come rushing past you! It really is incredible! You stand there at ground level, and take it all in. I don't think I can accurately describe how good it is. If you have expensive grandstand seats, it's still definitely worth staying there for at least a session.

I know there's a lot of fans who don't like the engines (including here), but I won't have any of it. It's a great relief to be able to stand so close to the track, where they're at their loudest, and not needing to wear ear plugs. In fact, at the same point, I don't think a young kid would need them. It's funny to read on various forum where fans don't like the engines, but like the v8's. F1 engines are louder than supercars engines. It's also interesting to visually see the performance differences. In to T3, F1 brake just past the 100m board, the v8's at the 150.

But those V10's and 12's sounded so nice. And piercingly loud.

I agree with picking a braking marker to stand near. The first time I did this I chose a spot just outside the 100m marker thinking they would be in deep braking. They all went past me at full throttle. It is hard to comprehend how quickly they approach a corner, shift down through 5-6 gears, turn in and then accelerate out.

I'll enjoy this again on Friday - while I loved the sound of those V10's these V6's are faster.

20000rpm for the sake of it doesn't get me going. The 3ltr V10, 2.4ltr V8 doesn't thrill me like others seemed attached to. If we're going by engine noise, then the 3.5ltr cars were best. V8, v10, & V12 with various howls, with it being different between manufacturers using the same amount of cylinders.

Another buzz standing at the braking for T3, is watch the whole field of any of the supports barrel in there on the first and early laps.

There's also t13. Standing at ground level, you don't see as much as T3 (where you can still see the whole car), but it's just crazy to recognise how close you're standing to the corner, they're going flat and then pull up with no problem. During a race, when they're one by one, the supercars are good to see standing at the kink between t12 & 13.

Not sure what to think so far. Feel Mercedes has the engine turned down and Hamilton will qualify .8 secs from the next best.

At the track yesterday & the sound is the best I’ve heard in the current turbo era. It’s not like the halcyon days of the wailing V10’s but a definite improvement to add to the spectacle.
On my way to the track now and it’s pouring rain in Melbourne (surprise, surprise)so that will create a bit of a lottery(a good thing) because based on FP1 & 2 no one will get close to Hamilton if it’s dry.

The mb is at another level. Hamilton has the experience and familiarity with the team, but he can be pegged back. Bottas making a beginners mistake doesn't help.

Mehhh, luke-warm race for me.
I enjoyed Seb getting the win and giving us some variety from Ham/MB, but the lack of overtaking and battles killed me.

Lots of 'battle packs', but they were merely queues of cars getting within DRS and being able to do f**k all.
