Gerald’s game

Never heard of it but Netflix suggested it. Different sort of concept and was pretty good

Annihilation 7/10 - Nice premise and ideas but potential is not fully realised. Tone is all over the place, you're not sure if you're watching raw sci-fi, horror, mystery, character drama etc.

A great movie can tie them all together but this has nowhere near enough meat. Visuals and a couple of scenes are genuinely great, performances mixed, final payoff doesn't work well. Worth a look, once.

Thor Ragnarok.

The Thor flicks are my least favorite in the MCU (besides Dr. Strange) and the fact that this one has Cate Blanchett makes it a bit less bearable.

Tomb raider. Ok to good. Alicia Vikander is great in the role bit there’s nothing really new or unexpected but some good scenes and enjoyable enough to want to see another one.

Though your points are valid, I liked it a lot more the 2nd viewing. Picked up so many things I missed. In an age of generic comic book films something a bit different and thought-provoking is nice.

It's from a Stephen King book
Well done
Sticks very close to the book
NEtflix also made a movie out of one of his short stories .
It's called
1922
Haven't watched yet but should be pretty good .

The director does some really interesting stuff. He likes to use old stories from Greek Mythology and modernise them.

If you think Killing of a Sacred Deer was weird, watch the Lobster.

Finally took that flight and watched Lobster. I enjoyed it, but won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Detroit. Interesting story, and a bit upsetting being based on a true story. But far too drawn out.

IMO could have lost a quarter and been more effective.

Watched Munich today, probably about 20mins too long imo but overall a gripping and tense movie. Eric Bana kills it, thought Daniel Craig was pretty shit.

Finally saw Black Panther. Thoroughly enjoyed it, especially as somebody who has lived in Africa and has a bit of an appreciation for African music and culture. Was fun picking out elements of Maasai culture.

I think I preferred Thor Ragnarok, but a bloody fun film all the same.

8/10.

Coincidence, just saw Munich too.

7/10 for me - When it was good it was seriously good, particularly parts of the second act. You're right in that it was overcooked, the pacing was inconsistent and the plot switches directions so it feels almost like halves of two different movies. Eric Bana won me over big time here, never realised what a complete actor he is, quite underrated. Geoffery Rush was wasted, Craig got the Saffa accent right (I think) but again not enough of him, it's Bana's movie all the way.

Watched Casino the other day. DeNiro and Pesci were great as usual. Sharon Stone was good too but bloody painful. Great start and then tapered off a little. Still a very good movie though.
8/10.

War machine. Not bad, kept trying to think of where I had heard of brad Pitts character before until the Rolling Stones journo shows up and I realised I had read the book he wrote a few years ago that the movie was based on lol.

Enjoyed the book more
