I'm glad as an Australian CA had the nuts to take a stand. If the other countries want to go soft and have low morals than that is a decision they can and have to live with.
Bs.

Ball tampering happens everywhere. Its only frowned upon if caught.

CA caved in to mob outrage.

What Lewis's $2000 fine?

More like CA responded due to pressure and outrage.

Once again, you cant arbitrarily change punishments on a whim.
No, the fact that CA can pick and choose whatever penalty they like. If you don't like that arrangement, don't cheat.

Ok.

Your opinion has been pretty strong in the fact that you endorse premeditated and deliberate cheating so no matter what argument is put forward you won't acknowledge the fact that, as far as we know, 3 players bought the game and their reputations into disripute and showed no repsect for their team mates, CA or the majority of the Australian public by agreeing to and allowing a player to take sandpaper on to the ground to rough up the ball. Then they tried to cover it up. As bad as it was, I applaud Steve Smith to admit guilt at the press conference after the day's play.

Lets look at another situation thats comparable in Australian Sport.

In the late 70's/early 80's the NSWRL decided to crack down on spear tackles, high tackles and brawling. Some players copped 20 week suspensions for their illegal play.

Do you think, with the power of hindsight, that they made the right decision for the game, or should they have left it how it was?

Do you think Australian players will commit ball tampering acts again in light of this?

You mean on suburban grounds?

What is the penalty for ball tampering in Australia?

Who knows?

And once again the penalty is disproportionate to what has gone on before.

As I keep saying to you, the past punnishments have been immensely pathetic. This is proven by the fact that those punishments have failed, repeatedly, to deter the act from occurring.

Do you need me to tell you again?

f**k it, I'll say it again anyway: the past punishments have been immensely pathetic. This is proven by the fact that those punishments have failed, repeatedly, to deter the act from occurring.

Once more, just to be sure: the past punishments have been immensely pathetic. This is proven by the fact that those punishments have failed, repeatedly, to deter the act from occurring.

Those penalties were advertised and known.

Its a totally false equivalence.

What is the penalty for ball tampering in Australian cricket?

Depends on who you are.

Just because this punishment is excessive compared to those of the past, doesn't mean it's wrong, or that the punishments of the past were correct.

Past punishments were clearly too weak. Persevering with the same punishment will do nothing to stop this act from happening again.

Well thats the governing bodies fault.

You cant just wake one morning and decide to go hard because of outrage.

Oh no they were not.

A spear tackle used to get 1-2 weeks.

Overnight with no warning, it was ramped up to minimum 10 weeks.

Fighting had no suspension. Overnight it carried huge suspensions.

And so they need to advertise that fact.
Not wait for it to blow up in their face.

Then thats pretty f###ed.
Whats next?

Batsmen not walking?
It's only f**ked for players who are guilty of cheating. And if you are a cheat, then you deserve 0 concessions.

It's that simple. It's also very easy to play cricket and not cheat.
