Willies coming,, willies coming

Rugby league bad boy Willie Mason is set to be unleashed in the Bulldogs' NRL trial against the Vodafone Warriors at North Harbour Stadium next Saturday night (March 3).
And it also seems certain outstanding New Zealander Sonny Bill Williams will have more game time as he continues his comeback from his latest injury problems.

The Bulldogs will be without winger Matt Utai, who damaged ankle ligaments in his side's 26-16 win against St George Illawarra in a trial last night (Saturday).
Standoff Daniel Holdsworth also picked up an ankle injury and he, too, might well miss the clash with the Vodafone Warriors.

But despite the setbacks, Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes said he planned to play Williams, Mason, captain Andrew Ryan and centre Willie Tonga in Auckland.

Williams had 40 minutes on the field last night, coming through unscathed.
He alone will be an enormous drawcard, as he always is when he plays at home.
Mason also provides plenty of reasons for fans to be at North Harbour Stadium.
The huge Auckland-born forward incensed Kiwis in his last appearance in New Zealand in the Tri-Nations series last October.
Lining up with his Australian team-mates as they watched the Kiwis perform the haka before the Mount Smart Stadium test, Mason was seen mouthing expletives in the direction of the New Zealand players.
During the fiery test, Mason was flattened by a thundering David Kidwell hit.

Logan Swann is set to play his first match for the Vodafone Warriors in three years and a half years after being named in the squad to face the Bulldogs in Saturday night’s trial at North Harbour Stadium.
The 32-year-old back rower’s last outing – the 146th of his career – was in the finals loss to Penrith on September 28, 2003 when the Vodafone Warriors fell one game short of a repeat grand final.
Now, after missing the trials against the Auckland Lions and North Queensland, Swann is set to wear his old club’s colours for the first time since returning from three seasons in the English Super League with the Bradford Bulls and the Warrington Wolves.
Also called into the squad after missing the two earlier trials, is standoff Jerome Ropati.
“It’s tremendous to have Logan back playing for the Vodafone Warriors,” said head coach Ivan Cleary.
“He’ll be an important player for us this year with all the experience he brings back to the club.
“We decided not to take Jerome to Mackay but now he has the chance to firm up his claims in the No 6 jersey.”
Cleary has named a 20-man squad for the trial against the Bulldogs. He’ll wait until later in the week before confirming his starting line-up. Not considered was loose forward Louis Anderson (shoulder) who is expected to be fit for the season-opening clash against Parramatta on March 17. New fullback Aidan Kirk and utility Patrick Ah Van are still recovering from off-season surgery while second rower Wairangi Koopu has a shoulder complaint.
Cleary said he would field the strongest line-up he could against the Bulldogs.
“This is the key trial for us, the last one before we start our season,” he said.
“Our form against the Cowboys wasn’t what we wanted last weekend. We’re after improvement in various areas against the Bulldogs.”
The Vodafone Warriors were beaten 32-14 by the Cowboys. They conceded a 10-0 start to the home side in the first 20 minutes before closing the margin to 10-4 10 minutes into the second half.
“We’ve moved on from that performance. This week we just need to tighten up on a number of things.”
The Bulldogs beat St George Illawarra 26-16 in their trial last Saturday night. It’s expected Sonny Bill Williams will have more game time this weekend after being used for 40 minutes against the Dragons.

Brilliant Kiwi loose forward Sonny Bill Williams and the ever-controversial Willie Mason will be the headline acts for the Bulldogs in their trial against the Vodafone Warriors at North Harbour Stadium on Saturday night (March 3).
Coach Steve Folkes today (Tuesday) named Williams in the back row and Mason at prop for his side's last trial before the NRL season starts.
Williams (21) had 40 minutes against St George Illawarra last Saturday night and is tipped to play more minutes in Auckland.
Mason (26), who was at the centre of so many incidents during last year's Tri-Nations series, will be playing his first trial of the year.
Also set to play their first trials in 2007 are centre Willie Tonga, captain Andrew Ryan and centre Andrew Emelio.
Named at halfback is Ben Roberts, who made his Kiwi test debut against Great Britain in St Helens last year.
Like the Vodafone Warriors, the Bulldogs have named a 20-man squad for the trial.
The Bulldogs are due to arrive in Auckland just after noon on Friday before heading to Williams' old school - Mount Albert Grammar School - for a training run from 3.30pm-4.30pm.
