If Lockyer didn't get injured we would have made the 2nd week of the semis.

Add in Hodges and Hannant and hopefully 1st year players like Gillett and Hoffman to kick on.

South Sydney would finish higher than the Donkey's even without G I.

Now it is a certainty.

Oh and Henjak first coach sacked next year!

No, you wouldn't have, Brisbane had sweet FA towards the end of 2010. If turnstyles had played, it would have made no difference.

Blind freddy could have seen that.

IF this, IF that. IF Petero wasn't suspended v Canberra and Pritchard/Waterhouse out, then Jennings and Lewis injured early v Roosters then Penrith might have got past week 2 of the finals. You could say the same thing for both Broncos and Souths. IF Melbourne hadn't have been caught cheating they would've still had their premierships... I wonder what excuses we'll have from Souths fans next season if they again fail to deliver, even with Inglis. Diddo Broncos. Will they be saying if only Inglis hadn't reneged on his deal?

If they aren't successful of course they'll blame Inglis.

As for souths, with the players we have, anything short of the top 8 will be a spectacular failure. IMO we have to get top 4 to be satisfied. 5-8 would barely be par. As for excuses, no excuses. If we don't make the 8 I don't know what anybody could possibly say to excuse it...maybe I'll think of something in 10 months.

That was a joke btw, we are certainly not going to miss the finals. That is all

Wouldn't of made a difference? Dude the Broncos lost because they lacked the composure Lockyer gave them and instead had to rely on an out of form Wallace to lead the team around.

I'm not saying the Broncos would've made week two, but they would've been better to have one of the all time greats in their side...

Maybe Dave Taylor and Greg Inglis could hold a joint pre-season press conference, where Taylor can once again confirm that Souths have the best pack in the league and Inglis can announce that their backs are now #1

Killing two birds with one stone, very convenient, I like it.

Um.

1. Josh Hoffman (emerging Origin player)
2. Denan Kemp/Jharal Yow Yeh (likewise)
3. Matt Gillett (rookie of the year, probable Origin/Test player in the next few years if he kicks on)
4. Justin Hodges (Origin and Test incumbent)
5. Corey Norman
6. Darren Lockyer (Origin and Test captain)
7. Peter Wallace (former Origin player, could hardly look worse in that arena than the other choices of late)

8. Nick Kenny (massively under-rated)
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Ben Hannant (Origin and Test incumbent)
11. Ben Te'O (on the edge of Origin)
12. Sam Thaiday (Origin and Test player)
13. Corey Parker (former Origin player)

VS

1. Rhy Wesser (former Origin player, way past his best)
2. Nathan Merritt (on the edge of Origin, maybe)
3. Dylan Farrell/POSSIBLY Greg Inglis
4. Beau Champion
5. Fetuli Talanoa
6. John Sutton
7. Chris Sandow

8. Luke Stuart
9. Isaac Luke (NZ Test player)
10. Roy Asotasi (former NZ test player, over the hill)
11. Edward Pettybourne
12. Dave Taylor (on the edge of Origin)
13. Sam Burgess (England Test player)

Hmmm. Let's think about that, shall we? On paper the Rabbitohs don't have the worst team in the League (hello, Cronulla) but best backline and best forward pack? There's optimism, and then there is statements like that.

lmao bragging about Bronco's being full of Origin players is like bragging about the Warriors being full of NZ players; redundant. You're pretty much guaranteed a spot in origin if you're a half decent Broncos player by default

And who's won the last five State of Origin series straight?

Honestly, the only two players from the Rabbitohs team who would get a start up here are Taylor and Burgess, maybe Inglis if he signs.

Meanwhile, Lockyer, Thaiday, Hannant, Hodges and Gillett at minimum would be walk-on starters at Redfern. But hey, whatever

Champion, Merritt and Talanoa would replace your current wings and centres in a hearts beat. Farrell shows just as much promise as Gilett as a rookie. Luke would be a walk on hooker no problem. Sutton wouldn't be five-eighth but he'd be a walk on for the lock position in Broncos.

Bronco has a few truly great players and the rest are absolute nothings.

Hodges is irrelevant, it's like me talking about Ben Ross. They've both been out a year, until they come back and prove they still have it they don't matter.

Considering the promise that Yow Yeh, Norman, Hoffman, and Gillett have displayed in either their rookie or first full NRL seasons? Sutton for Corey Parker? No. Not even.

Isaac Luke, perhaps. On the other hand, McCullough was in his first season as a full first grader, and played injured through most of it. Towards the end of the season he was a handful and will be better for it next year.

Hodges and Ross are entirely different propositions. Hodges was the best at what he did in '09 and has demonstrated his ability to come back from this kind of injury and Ross is over the hill and has spent the past few seasons at the no-hoping Sharks. At best he is going to be a bench player; his time has come and gone.

The "absolute nothings" you so casually dismiss are the next crop of Queensland and likely Australian players. The back line is better, the forward pack is better, and for the overwhelming majority of positions the players are better at the Broncos than the Souths.

It disgusts me that we have to actually defend our players from Rabbitohs fans. What the f**k is this world coming to.

The Rabbitohs don't have a bad team. Even leaving aside my/our pro-Broncos bias, however, it mystifies me as to how it could be said that they have a better team than we do. Next year the Broncos will have their best team since at least '06.

Even if they do get Greg Inglis I would still be wary of predicting much better than middle of the field for the Rabbitohs.

 your ignorance astounds me...

wesser: shiate for years, im sure Inglis would be a perfect replacement...
merritt: top try scorer in last placed team in 06? should have made origin
champion: was on the verge of origin, and led the try scorer tally early last year. But i can understand people bagging him, he went missing when it counted.
Farrell: hat trick on debut, looked the goods since
Taloana: meh, id have mansour or morgan ahead of him, both of which will be our versions of hoffman and yow yeh.
Sutton: did you forget he was a city rep? who cares if he tops try assists etc every year for 5/8's he plays for souths so he must be shiate...
sandow: was a speedbump, now just weak when the opp is within 10 meters of the line and no one is moving up in defence.
Luke Stuart: city rep, workhorse (if you dont think he is any good then please dont reply, you know nothing about league).
Luke: NZ hooker and led the dally m last year until injury and suspension...
Asostasi: Coming of two knee recos, so yeah he hasnt been his best. Over the hill at 25? ummm
Pettybourne: NZ rep?
Taylor: QLD origin currently, not formaly...
Burgess: Pom test player? thats the best way you can describe him? lol, he is a gun and you would cream your pants if he went to the broncos...
Ben Lowe: If you are going to act like Teo is the bees knees for being an emerging origin player, then why not ben lowe?
then there is crocker (when he plays he is good), ross (former aussie rep), jason clarke (most people dont watch souths games, but if they did they would rate this kid), and the list goes on...

Id go through the donkeys line up, but i cant be Fd...

To summarise, gun backline, but weak in the forwards.

Talanoa is one of the worst players in the NRL. He would not get a first grade gig at any other club.

It ain't 2007 anymore buddy. Asotasi is alot closer to 30 than he is to 25.

And if you reckon he can pick up another contract when this one is up for $400k then your a deadset clown.

What player has ever hit their peak after two knee reco's?

Over the hill.
