    RLWC 2025

Only 3 teams in the league this year in Scotland.

    RLWC 2025

Basically Jamaica, Cook Islands and South Africa will automatically qualify for the world series as the only full members in their continent not automatically qualified and then seven European teams will play off for the last spot: France, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Serbia and Ukraine...

    Scotland boss resigns

There aren't three clubs in Scotland. There and two and both of them struggled to travel to away games last season. A nominal fourth team was listed on the fixtures but they never actually played any games. I really don't see what you can do with two clubs that struggle to raise a team to play...

    Other Regional Super League options

    What 4 Scottish teams?

    The LJC\Stallion Thread

It's seriously nothing to do with rugby union. Rugby union itself is only a small sport in Scotland, which may explain why the strategy of recruiting RU players works in Wales and Ireland, but not in Scotland

    The LJC\Stallion Thread

The obstacle is no one really wants to play rugby league in Scotland. Ireland is different, there's about 10-12 clubs, but it's quite RU player orientated

Understanding the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers

Cook Islands are probably better than Scotland on the field and have a reasonably decent amateur set up (six clubs who run first team, reserves and multiple youth and junior teams) Canada and Jamaica are probably the next best, but I expect we'll see one of them and one out of Russia or Serbia

Understanding the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers

There's no chance of Scotland getting up to scratch

Understanding the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers

I know the Cook Islands meet the criteria for full membership. Wales only do if you include university sides. Ireland don't meet the criteria. I'm happy to have Affiliate members in the World Cup qualifying, but Scotland should be Observers

Understanding the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers

Yeah with a minimum of four teams in it. Scotland don't actually meet the Affiliate Membership criteria.

Full and Affiliated members are allowed to qualify but not Observers

Understanding the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers

Clearly they've made a mistake somewhere in their announcement, the question is where. I can't believe 3rd in Americas will enter the playoff, 7th in Europe may make some sense especially if Scotland get the boot. I do think though both Canada and Jamaica would beat Russia and Serbia

Understanding the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers

Why would they give the 3rd team in the Americas a playoff if Lebanon and 6 from the Pacific qualify automatically but not if one of those misses out on qualifying? That seems so arbitrary. There's also been no indication of Lebanon getting one of Europe's spots

Scotland Players Sent Home for Misconduct (Danny Brough)

The area near the border is mostly just farmland, there's not much point trying to develop the game there.

Understanding the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers

Only if you include Lebanon, otherwise it would be silly

Understanding the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers

This isn't right either. Somewhat bizarrely Europe get 7 spots including England. I can only imagine that they meant to say the 2nd place team in the Americas enters the playoffs, as entering the 3rd place team would be quite arbitrary and also lead to 17 teams in the World Cup. Hopefully if...

    Challenge Cup 2018

I doubt it will run next year. The only two teams left are Edinburgh Eagles and Strathmore Silverbacks. Neither fulfilled all their away games last season

16 teams for the 2021 RLWC?

Incidentally there are only two professional RU clubs in the whole of Scotland
  19. B

16 teams for the 2021 RLWC?

I don't think it could to be honest. With proper investment you could probably have one Championship and two League 1 clubs in Wales and one League 1 club in Ireland, but no amount of money could sort Scotland out
