Midas touch: merger tees up golden future for the game

Yep. I've been hoping for a while RL could grow TRL. They should definitely push mixed touch as much as they can, it would be a positive way to attract participants and interest to the whole game. Apart from netball, I can't think of any sport where the men's game isn't the primary focus. It...

Midas touch: merger tees up golden future for the game

This is fantastic news! Great to find out they've been working on it for ages. I'm not too sure how Touch operates internationally, hopefully other nations will look to align with their tackle rugby league counterparts and perhaps the 2017 edition of the Festival of World Cups will see tackle...

    boring boring boring

It would be interesting to see if changingThe game is restarted with an optional kick from the centre of the 20m line if: (c) a defending player, in his in-goal, takes a kick in general play from an opponent on the full to(c) a defending player, in his in-goal or within 20 metres of his goal...

    Questions

No problem mate. On this forum, if you click on a user's name and then 'send message' under their name on the page that loads, you will be given a choice of sending them a 'visitor message' (like a guestbook, I suppose) or a 'private message'. The talk page I was talking about, though, was...

    Questions

Welcome to the forums. I checked and I'm surprised the stats agencies don't have definitions pages on their websites. You'd expect them to want potential customers to know everything they collect already. Working on it!

    No Longer Minnows

Thanks for that, it was very interesting to read your insight. Speaking of the NFL, their commissioner recently mooted the possibility of widening their pitches in an attempt to reduce injuries. Though, apparently, this has been proposed in the past and (obviously) nothing happened. A...

    No Longer Minnows

Happily, I think those people can be ignored in a country like the US.

    No Longer Minnows

I like the blog - and I'm optimistic about its future as the guy running it seems to have the commitment, judging from his large Twitter following and existing site. You're not kidding! I was searching around to try to see what's happened to Brian Lowe (formerly of American Rugby News)...

All Stars rule experiment - rugby league lineouts.

I'd like to see this in action. There's certainly no down side to a governing body arranging some trial matches, at whatever level, to test new ideals. Perhaps the remaining six players from each team could be held back at the goal line, rather than the touch line, to prevent them obstructing...

    "American Rugby"?

Interesting thread, everyone. And nice to see suggestions still being made. Here are some pros and cons, in my opinion: Rugby league - Confusion with a league competition - Never-ending need to explain that it's one of 2 evolutions of rugby football + The dominant English language name...

    USARL Website is now LIVE!

Nice looking site, well done to those who worked on it! I noticed something to correct. You've put fly-half rather than five-eighth or stand-off on this page: http://www.usarugbyleague.com/about/the-rules-of-rugby-league/

    The Donnybrook Cup

Nice looking website. I hope the Cup is a success because international rugby league could do without setbacks. Newer nations establishing their own traditional fixtures is great. Are the details of the AMNRL/Star Group relationship still a mystery? The website says copyright to We Are Rugby...

    usarl - amnrl split

Is the eligibility statement that bad? The USARL have said they are open to cooperation which should include with US rep games. The AMNRL say individual players can register with them to become eligible. It looks like the door is open, as long as the registration process and fee aren't unreasonable.

Why do we have the world cup?

I know you're framing your argument but feel the need to say: The lack of a list is not a judgement on RL. Wikipedia is comprised of user contributions. If nobody's got round to making a rugby league list, start one. I think any competition's existence is justified if people want to play it...
