Be careful what you wish for Yosh. Yeah there’s plenty of people out there who would put their hand up to get paid $500K+ per year to coach an NRL team but sacking AOB for literally anyone else isn’t the way to go. If the right coach becomes available then sacking him should be considered but...

Match Discussion: Round 8 vs Dolphins @ Suncorp Stadium, Milton / Yuggera-Turrbal

Can someone copy and paste it in here?

I feel like we’re both making the same point in different ways. Premiership winning teams tend to have the best rosters but a great coach certainly helps. If we’re sacking AOB then we need to appoint someone who actually has shown evidence of being capable of turning a struggling club around.

For the record, I wonder if Brad Arthur is feeling the pressure at the Eels? Outside of the top guys who aren’t likely to be looking for a job anytime soon, I think he’s an option that the club would need to consider if he became available (IF they decide to punt AOB) I’m sure I’ll get shouted...

It just isn’t that simple Yosh. I don’t think a caretaker coach for 12 games is great and then you’re looking for a coach in a coaching market where there aren’t many options and signing someone without giving them much time to make any serious moves before 2025 rolls around. And you don’t...

Let’s not forget that we brought one of the all time great coaches here (arguably the greatest coach of all time if you go off his record) in Wayne Bennett and even he wasn’t able to get this club performing consistently. After what happened with Bennett I wouldn’t even feel confident in Bellamy...

As if you wouldn’t take a 3 time premiership winning coach if he became available and for some reason wanted to coach at the Knights… if Robinson signed with us right now you’d be praising the club for it just like the rest of us. Robinson annoys me with some of the stuff he says but so do most...

Maguire didn’t come across at strong or confident by the time the Tigers were through with him though, and our club has some similar issues as they’ve had, big name players overpaid and not performing, lack of toughness and lack of leadership. Maguire certainly delivers a spray or two when...

So who would be a slam dunk option to replace him? It’s basically the same coaches available as this time last year and I wasn’t overly convinced by any of them then and I’m still not. John Morris is the only one who I would seriously think about because I thought he did a good job with the...

Match Discussion: Round 8 vs Dolphins @ Suncorp Stadium, Milton / Yuggera-Turrbal

Considering the situation I’d probably prefer Gags at FB. He’s not going to give anything away physically and we need him with his hands on the ball if we’re going to try and make a go of anything this year. I know that finals is a long shot now but the coaching staff can’t just give up on the...

Ah that’s right, that was mid way through the season. We also beat Warriors in NZ and I remember that we put 50 on Manly at home too. But we had some bad losses in amongst all that too, most of them away from home. Yes I’m not giving Buderus enough credit, he was exceptional that year. I’d love...

This has a hint of 2004 about it, Joey went down early that year with a season ending injury and we had a pretty horrendous injury toll on top of that, I remember Tahu, BK, O’Davis and Simpson all being sidelined for big chunks of the year plus a few other guys. But our team fought pretty hard...

Yeah Edrick had some other issues that contributed to his slide, I’m a bit less worried about KP in that regard. But being out for 3+ months is basically season over for us.

The other thing to note is that these guys are all pretty banged up. Just consider what they put their bodies through on a week to week basis. Most of them are playing with various minor injuries or niggles and it’s extremely common in this sport for players to be out there on the field at less...

The foot injury is separate from the hip injury from the prior week. I get the criticism of AOB for coaching reasons but to say that he’s responsible for KP getting an entirely separate injury seems a bit much.

I sometimes get the impression that AOB can be too indecisive. He’s now tried 3 different halves combos in a 7 week period and has gone back to the one that he started the year with, which he should have stuck with in the first place. Also I can’t get my head around why we’ve regressed so much...

Robbo was right about that call. But he refuses to acknowledge when the calls go his side’s way, which is on a regular basis. As far as he’s concerned the refs are always punishing the Roosters.

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Canterbury @ Accor Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park / Wanngal

I think the frustrating thing is that whenever we have a half decent season we always seem to regress to being battlers the season afterward. We just can’t seem to have a season without a slow start and a heap of questions being raised about our team and then we have to fight our way back up the...
