Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Penrith @ Carrington Park, Bathurst / Wiradjuri

It’s a timing thing for sure, I don’t think we’re too far away from being a reasonable side now. Just need to stay composed and work through our plays. We have a tendency to get a bit hectic when attacking the oppositions line, we need to forget about trying to milk the 6 to go’s, and get nice...

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Penrith @ Carrington Park, Bathurst / Wiradjuri

I can sort of see the point you’re making, and creativity and play outside the box has its place, but after watching, playing and coaching kids for 40odd years I’ve come to the conclusion that the fancy stuff only works when you get the basics right, you have to earn the right to play fancy...

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Penrith @ Carrington Park, Bathurst / Wiradjuri

I thought Sezer wasn’t quite up to today’s game but when he picked up the ball and was gonna make us 50m and the ref called it a knock on, man I was spewing. It was a shocker that call. One of a few today that didn’t make sense, the ankle tap one was quite unbelievable, Schneider puts up the...

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Penrith @ Carrington Park, Bathurst / Wiradjuri

That long pass was stupid, absolute shit, high risk play for virtually no advantage, there’s a principle that says don’t pass the ball unless the player receiving will gain a greater advantage then the carrier. You start playing footy like that you’re in for a whipping 99 games out of 100. This...

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Penrith @ Carrington Park, Bathurst / Wiradjuri

I couldn’t disagree more with your comments about shape, we had some lovely depth to the backline today and some really promising movement, players in motion. I do agree with your comments about execution. Staines should’ve scored of the pass from Naden, Staines was caught out there. We get the...

Sezer has had a pretty poor game today. I’d still rather him than Brooksy though

Stupid mistakes 4 of them killed us. Really had enough of Staines and Bula need a stint in reserves. Bula refuses to play tough in attack

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Penrith @ Carrington Park, Bathurst / Wiradjuri

I disagree, lucky not to be further behind (to the tigers credit), we’re a bit loose in the centre and Panthers were constantly getting rolling sets toward the end of the first half. The back three need to work with a bit more commitment. Tupou runs pretty strong but the other two need to put...

Got to say after tonight’s two games our form line isn’t all that bad, both the dolphins and saints bashed their opponents

    Stefano Utoikamanu

Re-signed, you scared me for a sec

    Stefano Utoikamanu

A prop is still a prop, backrowers are more athletic and locks are expected to be workhorses and skilful ball handlers, altogether they make the ‘middles’ but they still have elements of difference between their play. You don’t see too many props playing in the backrow (although you get the...

    Stefano Utoikamanu

I reckon he’s worth a dollar, Haas runs rings around him so not as much as Haas, Fisher -Harris is a starchier scarier prop so probably not as much as him either, 750-850 is pretty fair

Rumours (signings, sackings & other NRL stuff)

I should’ve said at the same stage of his career

Rumours (signings, sackings & other NRL stuff)

We’ve also got Samuela Fainu who looks a proper prospect, and I would argue after a couple of games looks as good if not better than Utoikamanu. The two of those boys together will be a massive plus for the Tigers

Match Discussion: Round 6 vs St Geo Illa @ Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Leumeah / Dharawal

Agree there’s nearly always a need for someone to either straighten up the play as we go wide or a player running a straight or inside line to question defenders

Rumours (signings, sackings & other NRL stuff)

I can’t see Utoikamano leaving, I think we are turning a corner with Bula and Api signed til end of 2027, Luai on the way, and some proper promise being shown by some youngsters, I think there’s a chance of a premiership for us in 26-27.

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Penrith @ Carrington Park, Bathurst / Wiradjuri

Back to this game, call me Mad but I think we can win this. Forwards will really need to aim up but something in my guts tells me we’ll go ok this weekend, if Api plays a full 80 (I’m surprised he’s actually named) while he is playing at 120% I reckon he is running about 70%. Machine!!

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Penrith @ Carrington Park, Bathurst / Wiradjuri

I actually the Faataape was coming along ok. Missed a few tackles but he’s not Robinson Crusoe in that dept. Not perfect by any means but he looks like he’ll be fairly solid. I’ve got bigger worries about destroying Bula. I think he needs a stint back with the kids (not that he isn’t good...

Match Discussion: Round 6 vs St Geo Illa @ Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Leumeah / Dharawal

Every stat in the match was almost identical except penalties 9-5 against us and the scoreboard. One other thing that gave me the shites was the amount of times we went left and right without going forward, I know Benji is a lover of an early shift but it’s a once or twice a game play, not...
