Players refusing to sing the National anthem in protest

What I dont like about the Australian anthem is the tone. It sounds too happy and everything is all rainbows, flowers and butterflies. You don't hear the 'struggle' like you do with the US and NZ anthem. You need something that can hit you in the emotions.

    RIP Golden Point

From what I remember, the not standing square thing was a deliberate defensive tactic first implemented by the Des Hasler coached Bulldogs. This started a problematic trend across the NRL from 2014 onward. Glad the refs are stamping this out.

Broncos upset - no Sunday home games

Yeah so all that Friday night Broncos FTA money that the NRL uses to prop up broke poorly run socialist clubs down in Sydney and elsewhere will be unavailable.

    Melanesian Club Championship

@mikail-eagle Yeah I remember that match, I couldn't believe a Digicel level side defeated the same Pride that went on to win the NRL state championship that year. What made it more spectacular was that they succeeded where the Kumuls couldn't; Pride thrashing Kumuls 38-8 in 2009. Also nice to...

    Melanesian Club Championship

I agree, Union has too much technicalities and structures that only benefits the more populated and developed nations. I predict Japan and Italy will surpass the Pacific nations in the future.

    Melanesian Club Championship

Obviously Digicel Cup is the stronger competition, taking nothing away from the Gurias.

Why little mention of the CQ NRL bid?

CQ Capras need to be dominant in the Intrust Cup first, right now they're a laughing stock.

    2015 GF | PREMIERS - Cowboys 17-16* Broncos @ ANZ

Devastating, but I'm glad that this premiership will finally give JT the right to be an immortal.

Was that the greatest Grand Final ever?

It's aimed at pissing off those with the NSWs Cup mentality. Personally, I'm a bid advocate of Queensland RL history.

Was that the greatest Grand Final ever?

I like how users on this thread with their Sydney-centric view just focus on the NSW comp GFs and ignore the amazing GFs that existed in the BRL comp...

Was that the greatest Grand Final ever?

Its the greatest GF not just soley on the performance of the contest but also the feel good story behind it; 1) First ever Queensland GF 2) Hodges last game 3) NQ Cowboys finally winning their first ever premiership after years of bad luck with refs 4) Broncos quest for redemption, 5) JT...

    2015 GF | PREMIERS - Cowboys 17-16* Broncos @ ANZ

:( A friend had a spare ticket and I had more than enough saved up to travel. But I suffer from cheapism.

    2015 GF | PREMIERS - Cowboys 17-16* Broncos @ ANZ

All top 6 of the QRL sides can beat this Newcastle team.

lol at Broncos getting nervous re expansion!

I don't get the 'they're too successful, throw in another Brisbane team' argument. Most of the Broncos success came before the 3.4 million salary cap introduced in 1998 and its been a pretty even comp since. The 1998 and 2000 GF wins can be seen as a 'carry over' success from the pre 1998...

How many halves are better at defending than Thurston?

People point in down to lack of quality tackling technique but to me it comes down to body structure. From my observation, halves that are good at defending tend to have broader shoulders, something Thurston, Sandow and Lockyer don't have.

Grand Final vs Cowboys Discussion + Voting

I was still confident after McGuire went down. As long as the spine was still intact, it was all a matter of the forwards working a little extra harder.

lol at Broncos getting nervous re expansion!

As long as the talent isn't going to cradle robbing clubs like Roosters and Manly and stays in QLD I'm okay. Still grieving over the loss of Nikorima and Matt Parcell. Yeah I'd back Brothers over Bombers. Great history and an already established following as well. Ipswich is cool too but I...
