    Next Year

I'm actually quite happy with our forwards with the likes of Bromwich, McLean, Tohu, Proctor, Finucane as the starters and some great young props like Asofa-Solomona, Kaufusi and Welch coming through. Throw in the likes of Kenny Bromwich, Glasby & White and I think we're well covered. Agree...

    Gains, Losses and Re-Signings

perfect timing. he's served us well but is on the decline. still adds value now (mainly of the utility variety), but won't for much longer. I think we're seeing this year that the "loss" of norrie has really helped the pack so hopefully some more of our good young'uns will step up

"It's not in their make up, it's not in their game."

really, they should stop placing pussy high tackles on report. with the rule that you only get a penalty when you stay down if it's reportworthy, stop putting them on report unless it's actually worth putting on report. it seems they only put them on report to justify giving a penalty, which...

    Chip n Chase Try

don't play any fantasy games mate, don't have time otherwise I would. I created one though a long time ago so have always had an interest in the stats.

    Chip n Chase Try

I think that's why they created line break assists. I know it's not perfect but it's objective and I think what you're describing is subjective.

    Chip n Chase Try

what's the difference between (for example) cronk chipping and chasing but slater regathers to regathering himself? the act of assisting was identical. it's a bit like in cricket not giving the bowler a catch when he gets a caught & bowled not sure what they do in soccer when the player...

    Chip n Chase Try

How come the dude who does a chip n chase and scores doesn't get a try assist, only the try (ala Cronk tonight)? Should get both IMO.

Authorities investigate medical service deal with league star Greg Inglis

Wouldn't surprise me if someone affiliated with Souths made donations to the charity equal to or exceeding the payments made to Inglis. I would imagine this is more of a cap management issue than a rorting a charity issue.

    Hoffman to Warriors

hoffman normally plays 80 and will give you 10-15 hitups for about 100-130m a week. as evidenced by his high hitup rate for a backrower, he actually plays like a prop at times and is not afraid to get in and do the dirty work. capable defender although does not make a lot of tackles (maybe...

    Norrie

another quality 32m from our starting prop

    Norrie

any of our other props, eg Rose, Kenny Bromwich, Garbutt, Weston or even Lodge and of course McLean when he comes back

    Norrie

Can we please dump him already... is averaging 66m a game, hasn't cracked 100m all year, doesn't threaten the line, isn't a ball player, and doesn't even do a lot of defence to excuse the pathetic attack (19 tackles a game).

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

Just because there is one major difference, it does not mean they are not similar. I'm not necessarily disagreeing that the injury should play a part in the punishment in this case. I'm not really sure tbh, part of me says yes and part of me says no. It's a very tricky situation. I think...

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

I think you may be right, but that doesn't change the logic of my point. It was borderline and there was potential for him to be found not guilty.

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

how is it mind boggling when so many similar tackles have not even received a penalty, let alone a suspension?

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

I respectfully disagree because if it only happens once every 20 years, they will roll the dice.

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

Yes, I agree... but for different reasons. It will continue because they have penalised the outcome and not the action. They need to increase the base penalty for dangerous throws and once players start getting a month off (or whatever) for the lowest end of the scale tackles (like the McLean...

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

the difference is that fans don't enjoy lifting tackles like they do shoulder charges. lifting doesn't add any spectacle to the game, particularly of the third man in variety.
