    Rumours and Stuff

I watched some of his tries in reserve grade. He’s clearly too good for that level if you only consider his skill level with ball in hand 10m out from the try line. He made the defenders look like high school kids.

Can we take advantage of this weak NRL era already?

    Rumours and Stuff

Simmons has no one to blame but himself. He’s had the attitude of an entitled brat and he refused to accept any constructive criticism. It was always someone else’s fault. I get the feeling he doesn’t love the game and is just doing it for the money.

    Rd6 2024: 530pm Eels v Cowboys GAME DAY THREAD @ Commbank Stadium Apr 13th

The Cowboys have had a really easy draw and still have the second worst defence. They’ve played the Dolphins, Dragons, Knights and Titans for their wins. They are very overranked.

    Rd6 2024: 530pm Eels v Cowboys GAME DAY THREAD @ Commbank Stadium Apr 13th

Happy to get the win but that was a game between two bad teams. If the Cowboys weren’t so inept and knew how to finish off their raids on our edges they would have won easily.

    Rumours and Stuff

I’m still trying to figure out if we’re the biggest homewreckers or safe houses in the NRL. FWIW I think a lot of the players who came here do actually want to be here as evidenced by Moses, Matterson and RCG re-signing their next contracts with us even though they probably could have received...

    Rumours and Stuff

Pretty interesting how we have a history of procuring our notable signings by getting them to break their contracts. Moses,RCG, Matterson, Ofahengaue and now Lomax looking likely.

    Rd5 2024: 615pm Eels v Raiders GAME DAY THREAD @ GIO Stadium April 7th

I think you’re diminishing the coach’s role by claiming that senior players are more influential. Being a man manager is absolutely one of the most important roles of a coach. Bennett is one of the best at it. There’s a reason why Bellamy still won a competition without Slater, Inglis and Cronk...

    Rd5 2024: 615pm Eels v Raiders GAME DAY THREAD @ GIO Stadium April 7th

It’s part of the coach’s job to get the most out of the players. Are you conceding that it isn’t happening at the moment with Moses gone? It’s also the coach’s job to motivate the players so if they aren’t responding that’s also his responsibility.

Do you think the coach is getting the most out of this squad?

    Injury Updates

I think you’re one of the most astute judges on this forum but I agree with Pou on this one. Dunster was looking very good before his injury (it took him a while to get going). Gus had massive wraps on him and made it known during the broadcast.

    Rd4 2024: 4pm Eels v Tigers GAME DAY THREAD @ Commbank Stadium Apr 1st

The other thing that gets me is that the core of the side has played together for over 5 years now. How do we lack such cohesion in attack?

I’d say the meaningful comparison would be the degree to which the team is impacted. 80% is a fantastic record without Cleary. You have to credit Penrith for having such fantastic systems that allow that.

I’m surprised at Browns lack of game managing considering he came through the grades as a halfback.

I never said you were stupid. I would say your data is insufficient to draw a conclusion. I’d need the sample size (actual number of games) as well instead of just percentages.

    Rd4 2024: 4pm Eels v Tigers GAME DAY THREAD @ Commbank Stadium Apr 1st

I don’t know what you mean by this. If the record without him is better are you going to then say the data shows they’re a better team without him? That’s not how it works.

    Rd4 2024: 4pm Eels v Tigers GAME DAY THREAD @ Commbank Stadium Apr 1st

Since 2022 their record is 12 out of 15. That’s a pretty damn good record to be without someone who is considered the best player in the game. Do you think we’ll come close to that?

    Rd4 2024: 4pm Eels v Tigers GAME DAY THREAD @ Commbank Stadium Apr 1st

I always get the impression we score points off the cuff rather than utilising any meaningful attacking structures.

    Rd4 2024: 4pm Eels v Tigers GAME DAY THREAD @ Commbank Stadium Apr 1st

I’m annoyed but this bad loss as well but I disagree with anyone who says starting with Paulo and Matterson was a poor coaching decision. There’s nothing wrong with starting with your best players and trying to get the ascendancy early. That’s not the reason why we lost. Ivan Cleary deserves a...
