So same question, is it because Chicago haven't got a full side?

With their history of forfeits it might be the Raiders who can't raise a full team.

Just checked out Niu's twitter page and the Midwest RL only have an eight man squad. http://twitter.com/davidniu7 |

Taking an 8 man squad is more related to cost. It is cheaper to take a squad of 8 than 17. That's the bottom line with this decision - we just don't have the funds to take more players. We could have raised a larger squad and have had plenty of interest locally - but then guys have to pay their own way and when you don't have anything more permanent or solid than a one off tournament this year it is difficult to persuade guys to commit to that. It is a situation that we are reviewing for future years.

Still an amazing effort Chicago Saint to get a team (of any size) to commit to a tournament like War at the Shore.
Hopefully for your players, one of the AMNRL or even Canadian sides can head across to Chicago and play a full 13 on 13 game later this year or next year to help build momentum. |

Hopefully there are some pictures coming soon. I'd like to see our first look at the Stockyarders in action.

It looks like DC International (a combined DC Slayers-Fairfax Eagles team) took the tournament. Pretty impressive!

Thanks for all the messages of support. Just got back from WAS XIII - great event, very well run by the AMNRL! To narrowly lose 16-10 to the Raiders with a team including 6 guys who had never played any form of Rugby before was a fantastic achievement. We will be going back next year, hopefully plus more events.
Photos and maybe video to follow........... |

It was a draw at full time so they simply had a 2 on 1 shoot out.
Just like a training drill pretty much. Attacking team has two players and defending team has one. First team not to score when attacking lost. |
