Turnbull is a bit hamstrung by the nutters in the party. He is already limiting the talk on SSM.

You think they were harsh on Peter Slipper? Those that were in power will not be enjoining time on the back bench. You thought Rudd leaked against Gillard? When the righties start canvassing the press, then Mal will get zero traction.

Rudd turned around an ALP that was just as f**ked as the Libs are now in about the same amount of time didn't he? Well, not turned around so much as polished that turd enough with fun slogans that they got elected. Turnbull seems like the type of guy that could pull off something similar.

As I said in the Abbott thread, I just hope he actually has the guts to do something with his likely short time in office. He could probably start with calling for a vote of gay marriage and make all the labor idiots that were dead against it when in power but coincidentally supportive in t when they knew they couldn't get it through anyway shake in their boots a little bit.

More likely though it will just be the same old clown show

Since coming to power an hour ago he's already ruled out gay marriage?

His pitch so far sounds strikingly similar to Abbott in February - "more consultative, collegial...working with the cabinet etcetera etcetera"

Difference being Turnbull uses approximately 30x more words to make the same point as Abbott.
