Newcastle have to win this to keep their ailing finals hopes alive. For some reason they just haven't clicked (despite fielding a similar team to last season). I think North Queensland are finally going to win after what's been another frustrating season for their supports. It won't be pretty, but the Cowboys to get home in a tight one, thanks largely to Jonathan Thurston.

you can expect a red-hot Knights outfit to turn up.
We haven't been red-hot for a good 12 months. Maybe a luke-warm Knights side will turn up, but least it'll be a marked improvement on the Stone Cold side that turned up last week (pun fully intended)...

Yeah it sure was, I couldn't remember seeing such a relentless beating in one half of football. Can you think of one Charlie? What two teams were involved and which ground was it at? ;-)

The Brisbane Times didn't forget:

"For a while it looked like they might crack the all-time record,
coincidentally held by yesterday's dismal opponents Newcastle,
who in 2003 put 48 past North Queensland with Andrew Johns in the driver's seat".

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/raiders-keep-finals-dream-alive-after-smashing-knights-20100718-10ft8.html

I like how it has to add that Johns was in the driver's seat while we were flogging your side from pillar to post.
Rubs it in so well. 48 points in 40 minutes of football, you've got to be kidding?! But no, it's right next to that other 70-32 Knights record against....the Raiders!

I can't follow the logic of your post (if there indeed is any). It seems to indicate that you believe the Cowboys will put 70 on the Knights, if I'm reading it correctly.

Clicking isn't our issue. Our issue is that most of our forwards are below reserve grade standard. That's basically our issue. We can't tackle up the middle or make metres...and I can't see it improving next year. We have some very good backrowers but they're useless with our lack of props. We'll get destroyed up the middle if JT shows a bit of talent this week.

There could be 100 points scored in this match. Defense will probably be optional
If we try to get involved in a shootout, we'll get beaten by 30. The only way we'll win this one is if our forwards actually turn up and a) decide to make a few tackles along the way and b) decide they want to make more than around 30 metres a set with the ball.

Man there are some mouthwatering matchups here. Carl Webb v Antonio Kaufusi. Who will make more then 40m? Who will be the first to make 3 unforced errors?

Anyone know which way the wind is blowing? Commentators mentioned it will be a big advantage first half

Tonga played, Harris out. Rovelli out, Ty Williams in.

Kaufusi in for Tolar for Newcastle, and Vuna in for Mad Dog.

Good try from Uate. He should be coming in mid-field a bit more often looking for the footy. Particularly towards the end of the halves when the opposition forwards are getting tired.
