What the hell?

Really, it not up to the Storm. Its up to the ARL and NRL to start stepping up and giving Rugby League a voice! :x

the best idea would be to relocate them(melbourne storm) to the gold coast - gold coast storm - an established club would be better to compete against the expected bronco resistance/threat to a second team in that area.

the central coast bears could then be admitted

16 team comp - 22 games - 4 week final series and 4 weeks off for a revamped city v country and soo series.

Move the Melbourne Storm out of Melbourne and the NRL WILL lose $$$ in that the Naming Rights AND Broadcast Rights on a 2 States + NZ Comp is worth quite a bit less than a 3 States + NZ Comp. (and possible the same would be true of Club sponsors as well.)

And what happens to Newcastle when the Bears are admited?

They have already come out and said they might not survive (losing up to $1M in revenue [sponsorships & crowds]).

You do know there is a way of fighting the Broncos SE Qld domination than transplanting an existing team, don't you Stalin :?:

It is upto Newcastle to strengthen there finances. I don't think it would be as bad for Newcastle as they are making out. The competition could be good for them. They had the Northern Eagles out of Gosford to worry about didn't they.

Moving the Storm is surrendering. We will never be a sport of national importance. Storm can't move.

Gold Coast Storm? Gee Generalissimo Stalin you should work in the NRL marketing department you spastic. Anything other than a new club would be a disadvantage for the Gold Coast.

Moving the Storm would turn so many people away from our game and turn even more journalists against us. :x

Ah ok. So the Victorian government will possibly nurture AFL where as the NSW government want to kill clubs with a new pokie tax. Victorians appreciate that their clubs are state treasures where as the NSW government treats its rugby leagues clubs like whores.

When will the NSW government give the rugby league the respect it deserves!?! :|

Possibly when you have a premier that knows that State Of Origin is played between NSW & Qld, not NSW & Vic. And when you have a Minister for NRL, just like how Victoria has a Minister for AFL.

Mate you obviously have no clue what goes on. Central Coast have junior representative teams called the Central Coast Rips, and not many people Gosford way want to support the Knights because they have an attachment to the Rips and because the Rips play the Knights in SG Ball and Harold Matthews they would feel like traitors.

"why does league always get f***ed around ".

I don't see how you can draw that implication ,when the post is about assistance for country clubs in light of extra ordinary circumstances !

xxxx!,

There is no 'extra ordinary circumstances' relating to this.

This is about the AFL trying to get more money to develop their game more in country Victoria.

It has nothing to do with drought effected grounds, christ we have been in drought in parts of this state for 8 years.

It's not to do with club room or anything like that, as they are all local government owned and maintained.

Believe me, League down here does get fricked around

listen fool the storm are propped up by news limited and all know news limited will pull the plug on league in the near future - storm without news limited money will fold - WAKE UP. Relocating them will mean they will survive.

I think this is a great idea .

The idea that Melbourne is the best target because it's the biggest is wrong .It has been found that tackling medium sized cities is much easier than the big cities .The AFL haven't done it in Sydney .the NRL haven't done it in Melbourne .
