Hard to argue with any selections there, though I will say Art Monk SHOULD finally be there and before Michael Irvin IMO.

Dan Marino and Steve Young are certainties for mine.

More than likely, you will see one of either Modell or Coryell in the 5. I would also argue a spot for Charles Haley who was a difference maker in SF and then helped start the Cowboys golden run with Aikman and the boys.

Its extremely hard to compare the performances of coaches, owners and the wide variety of specialists playing the different positions on NFL teams.

I don't know how you can do it actually.

Most of the 25 here you think would deserve inclusion at some stage.

I actually agree with Broncodroid about Don Coryell.Although he never coached a SB team ( to my knowledge) he revolutionised the game especially during his stint at San Diego.

Marino deserves inclusion on his first year of being elegible.

There weren't too many offensive lineman around who were better then Russ Grimm and Joe Jacoby for the Redskins during the 80's.

Is anyone here old enough to remember John Riggins - great running back with the Redskins?

In my opinion he owes some of his success to Grimm and Jacoby. He certainly used to run between them and into the holes they created often enough.

I remember the Diesel. A very big running back and white to boot. I remember a game against Dallas in 78/79. I have it on my 15 greatest comebacks of all time and he played a pivotal role in the game although the Redskins eventually lost.

Roger Staubach engineered one of the greatest come from behind wins in NFL history and there was a division title up for grabs from memory.

I'm going to say:
Steve Young - should be the first one in
Dan Marino
Richard Dent
Charles Hayley
Bob Kuechenberg - I'm probably just biased on that though ;-)

There are some quality candidates no doubt and I thought long and hard about Haley and Dent, especially Dent who was part of that awesome Bears side from 85'.

Too many to choose from.

I think the only real 'lock' for the HOF is Steve Young. For the other four spots it's a bit of a lottery IMHO.
Dan Marino will certainly get in - eventually, but it wouldn't surprise me if they said "not this time." As he only played one SB for a loss.

Statistically, Marino is one of the top QB's of all time. IMO, he played about two seasons too long and was an easy target in the end. He couldn't scramble like Elway but had the quickest release I have seen from any QB.

He should be there in the first round.

Marino first round for me...

He has passed for the most TD's and yards of all time... ( I think..., I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...)

Its like saying that Emmitt Smith or Jerry Rice wouldn't be first time selections in my opinion.....

I don't think SB appearances should be all that important in deciding whether a player gets selected or not....

Personally I could live with Steve Young having to wait a year for selection...(I know that someone will say that he had a better rating than Marino, so let me say that I don't care, he also has a better rating than Joe Montana and Brett Favre as well, but I know who I would prefer as my starting QB.....)

My picks

1.Dan Marino - definite first timer
2. LC Greenwood - best DE of the 70s, one of the anchors of the Steel Curtain. Hindered by the high number of 70s Steelers already in the Hall
3. Lester Hayes - best corner of his era, had an amazing run in the late 70s early 80s
4. Art Monk - long distiguished career
5. Kenny the Snake Stabler - doesn't have the stats of some QBs, but was the most dangerous QB of the 70s.

Art Modell - lol. I wonder how Cleveland fans would feel about that one?
