Congratulations to Guildford for seemingly qualifying for the 2012 Sydney Shield finals with their win on the weekend. Assuming 4 teams qualify Mounties look to miss out on points differential, which is interesting as their NSW Cup and Bundy squads also look like just missing the cut to make the finals.

Any news on where this years finals are set to be played?

BNRU once again shot themselves in the foot in the first half. I think they should just sit out the 1st half and come on for the 2nd. They're mentally weak at times, the way they need to be behind, pressure off, before they start to play. I'm not sure if it's an inexpereince thing, some players just not being up to it, coaching styles, or a mix of them all. They certainly can play once they're switched on, though.

BNRU have no trouble scoring points, its leaking points early in matches. I have watched a few of their games and its always the same story. All the new sides will be better off next season with this years experience.

There is talk a few big names maybe drafted into Auburn and Kingsgrove next season.

Tim TauTuua scored 5 tries for Auburn against Kingsgrove in Bundy 2 weeks ago and then was relegated to the Sydney Shield team the following week.

Yesterday he scored another 5 tries against Hills District.

Looks like they might be trying to get him to qualify for their sydney shield teams semi final!

Kingsgrove won their first game of the season. 38-28 against Blacktown

Blacktown lead 28-16 with 10 to go but the Colts laid on four tries in 6 minutes to steal the win.

Well done to the lads.

So stoked for the Colts, watched them in plenty of their losing efforts this season (and last) but typically missed today as I was on my way down to Wollongong!

Glad to see them finish with a win.

Cabramatta Two Blues turned in one of their most disappointing performances of the season, going down 18-10.
The Blues will now meet St Johns Eagles in the sudden death elimination final next weekend and a winif the Blues want to remain in the race to defend their 2011 title.

Round 18

Kingsgrove 38 Blacktown 28
Windsor 18 Cabra 10
Entrance 44 Mounties 8
Wenty 44 BNRU 26
St Johns 52 Auburn 12

Final Ladder

Entrance 28
Wenty 27 (+411)
Windsor 27 (+324)
St Johns 26
Cabra 25

Mounties 22
Auburn 12
BNRU 6
Blacktown 5
Kingsgrove 2

A really close comp for most the year with only 3 points between the top 5 teams. St Johns won the first 9 games to open quite a gap but Entrance won the last 8 games to move from 6th to first.

The semis are at Cabra next week with the Minor at 1pm and the major at 3pm.

Tim Tuutuu scored 5 tries for Auburn for the 3rd time in 4 weeks.

Hope bnru go round again next year. Showed signs of improvement. A lot of balmain juniors who don't make the tigers have given the game away in the past as there has been no team at this level since ryde eastwood merged with balmain

Semis at Cabra today.

Minor - Cabra were out of the blocks early scoring the first 2 tries and led 12-4 in the second half before St Johns stormed back and appeared to be in ascendancy at 20-12 but Cabra got a second wind and won 24-20.

Major - Wenty had the running for most of the game although Windsor did get back to 10-10 at one stage. The final score was 36-16.

I though the second game was quicker than the first and Wenty are looking like favourites.

Wenty took the double at St Marys Leagues Stadium defeating Cabramatta in the Sydney Shield and The Entrance Tigers in the Bundy Cup decider.

The lead changed hands several times in the last 10 minutes in an exciting game after The Entrance had lead for the majority of the game. A trip to the sinbinfor the Tigers, consecutive penalties and simple errors uultimately allowed Wenty to get back into the game and eventually take the spoils in front of a vocal crowd of approx 1000.

The Entrance brought 5 bus loads of supporters.

A few reps from Victorian club North West Wolves were at the game, which suggests they are pushing ahead with their proposal to play in the Bundy Cup. They finished 3rd in the VRL in 2012.

The club proposes to build a squad of resident Victorians rather than recruiting from the northern states. They might have to rethink this approach if they wish to taste any sort of success.

Lebanon play Cook Islands on sunday week. A couple of surprising selections for Lebanon are Ben Ellis and Casey Ellis from Cabra.
