Time for the crowd watch to begin.

Broncos first home game versus the Warriors goes on sale to GP tomorrow. Other games on the 22nd Feb.

Broncos away double header at Suncorp is selling very well, pax looks to be about 30k. Great considering Broncos members do not get free entry.

Allstars vs Indigenous looks to hit about 35k-ish.

As with previous season - will be keeping crowd stats in the Game Day Spoilers 2016 Draw thread.

PNG v Panthers last week at the new National Stadium reportedly got 15k (full stadium I think).

Wynnum v Dragons ~ 3,500 but no official figure

Broncs v Cowboys at Salter Oval got 8,122 from memory.

Apparently the Nines averaged 28k or so, therefore around 56k over the two days. Not sure on the split.

As can be seen, last years average was 15,070. Can that be beat this year?

Given it was the lowest crowd avg in 12 years you'd hope so! not sure if the NRL had got a strategy for increasing attendances tbh.

Good to see you're inside the NRL and know everything.

Please show yourself out of this thread now and don't return. You derail it at every damn chance you get.

What valid point is that?

We're all well aware of the fact the average last year wasn't great and needs improving. Last year this thread was filled with PR's constant NRL-bashing. It's almost as tiring as my forum copping.

Not it wasn't great, it was the lowest for 12 years. What strategies are in place this year to improve it? Anyone know?

Timmah it's an attendance discussion thread. Discuss, ignore or leave. You're the one derailing and off topic.

Dont see a problem with what PR said. Just a chance for people to sink the boot in.

At the end of the the day, crowds are decreasing and the NRL continues to ignore it.

Crowds are reducing in all football codes in Aust.

RL fans don't live in a bubble.

There are other reasons at work (economic, increased media options and the like)

Afl has had a significant drop from 2012 but the GWS and Suns played a major factor in the overall avg. I suspect. They did have a drop pre expansions in to 2011 and then a significant drop post expansion 12 onwards.

A league has improved on the back of expansion and cutting deadwood.

S15 has reduced in similiar amount to NRL.

Nbl is up I think.

Cricket is up with big bash doing well in getting crowds in.

Nrl's is down but not massively, a drop of around 9% on a reasonable high of 16,400 which we've reached a few times in last decade.

No sport is particularly growing in line with population growth at the moment.

I understand Melbourne fumbleball crowds were down.It was the Perth and Addledayde mob that helped them along.
Wonder what strategies they have in place hey PR?

Errr, last time the A-League "expanded" was when they introduced WSW. Now nearly four years ago. Prior to that it was the Gold Coast and North Queensland who are both dead.

Which deadwood have they cut? Wellington who only net about 3-4k members per season? Melbourne City who despite being bought by one of the world's biggest football clubs, still struggle to crack 10k on the reg in a sports-mad city?

Come on. A-League still isn't back at it's heady days of 2006-08. Which even then weren't all that impressive.

Aleague has gone from a avg 8-10k in 2009-2012 to a avg 13k ish 2013-2015. They have had a slight improvement overall in recent years but not yet back to their best of 14-15k in 06-09.

They dropped, mostly, their most fan attendance unfriendly kick off time and lowered food costs at Melbourne stadiums as a starter. Also the season your focussing on some of the Melbourne big guns had poor years. Just as we would see a positive increase in Sydney NRL attendance if Bulldogs, Souths, eels and tigers were top 4 if you just looked at one season with top supported clubs form being good or bad. Will be a better picture over next 2-3 years though the new 20k extra capacity Perth stadium will be another factor in a likely increase overall for afl in 2018.

Hopefully the weather and form of the big clubs will be kind to us this year as don't see much else helping ticket sales from an NRL direction.

You know what they say about lies ,damn lies and statistics!
