2018 Draw

Only a f**king idiot would say we had a tough draw in 2017 based on where teams finished in 16 rather than how good the teams actually were in 2017.

That is what is used to make the draw though. We aren't too know if next year is easy or not until it plays out. I can almost guarantee when it is announced no one will say it is an easy draw but when we make the finals suddenly we will have the easiest draw as we have the last 2 seasons

Lol it just gets better. Franklin still trying desperately to make 2017 seem impressive in any way possible. It doesn't f**king matter how tough the draw looks for 2018 what matters is how tough it works out to be in reality, how hard is that to get. 2 years and you are still making the same dumb argument.

The last 2 years we had an easy draw as we a better team. Unless you have heaps of 5 day turnarounds the draw means stuff all as to how you go.

I agree we don't know how teams will go next year. If we get a draw against mostly 2017 top 8 teams we will have a tougher draw up until the point they fail miserably like the Dogs this year.

If we come first and we beat a bunch of top 8 teams I wouldn’t be downplaying the greatness in that scenario or something similar.

Teams like Newcastle, Tigers and Titans will likely have more wins next year given their signings and coaching improvements. If you draw any of those teams twice it could be considered harder than it was this year.

Its all subjective and wont please everyone. Play what's in front of you. Good teams find a way to win. Simple.

So you base the toughness of a draw purely on how the ladder panned out, whilst being fully aware of the fact that the ladder isn't an 'accurate reflection' of the quality of teams since its argued how much of an influence the draw can have on where teams finish?

You do get how much of a contradiction that is, right?

It is one thing he does well contradict. Fans, Players officals look at the draw and pencil in the tough games well in advance not knowing the injury situation of themselves or the opposition

Reasonably soft draw based on this years form.

But the travelling at the end of season will be tough:

Fly to Brisbane
Away (Locally)
Home
Fly to Gold Coast
Home
Fly to New Zealand
Fly to Melbourne

Pretty good draw for us I think. Only one 5 day turnaround, lots of home games against other Sydney teams.

While we have 5 Friday 6pm games, 4 of them are away matches. We've also got 12 FTA games, which is great for our sponsors, and will drive our asking price for other potential sponsors.

And only playing Storm, Broncos and Roosters once is huge.

Haven't had a chance to look at the entire draw, so I'm not sure how it compares to other teams, but I'm happy

A draw is simply a draw.No matter how you get to the other end,if you've won,who gives a fook.

Just like rally drivers. They look at a map and determine how difficult it will be.Providing they get to the finishing line first, they don't care how they did it.

Anyone ever consider how hard the Storms and Knight's draws were for this 2017 season?

I bet those two teams didn't mope about the luck of the draw. They played what was in front of them. They played the hand with the cards that were dealt to them.

We play 11/24 games against this years finalist. Of course other teams will get more as we are a top 8 team ourselves. Canberra would of been top 8 if they didn't lose those 6 games by under a try. Souths get GI and have a new coach so this could be a tricky draw I guess we will see

We play this years top 3 teams once each. They should all be top 4 again next year.

You would expect to have close to half your games against top 8 teams. We got lucky in not drawing the 3 best teams twice.

Edit
Looks like we play Roosters before Origin 2. Likely with us at full strength and them missing 4 or 5 players.

Napa. Cordner. Ferguson. Tedesco. Maybe Pearce.

We finished 7th. Play 4th, 5th and 6th twice. That is still 9 games with teams that finished above us. Throw in playing 8th twice too again nothing easy about this or any draw

There was next to nothing separating 4th through 9th... proven by the fact we could have finished as high as 4th with only 2 rounds to go.

It's easy to see anyone or all of Eels, Sharks, or Sea Eagles missing the top 8. Roosters and Broncos on the other hand should be as good if not better in 2018. Storm will lose Cooper Cronk and be brought back to the playing field. Those 3 teams would need some serious injuries before not being in the top 4 again.

You're delusional if you don't think a draw where we face these teams only once is what every team was dreaming of. The only top 4 team we play twice is the team we always request to play twice... Eels. We got the perfect top 4 draw for us.

Actually that's not true... playing either Broncos or Storm before Origin 3 would have made it perfect. Instead our draw has us play 2 out of 24 matches against full strength top 3 sides.

Point 1 SOO 2 is stand alone so we will play Roosters at full strength.

Point 2 didn't idiots say above a draw isn't hard until you see how a team how they play in 2018 not 2017? If it turns out Canb, Eels, Sharks and NQ are top 4?

It is possible for us to get 14 games v Top 8 opposition we have 11. Far from easy
