Dufty will make the grade and is 179cms tall some 7cms taller than Quinlan.
Quinlan was suspect under the bomb
and could be a sloppy handler and passer. Quinlan had exceptional pace but then seemed to lose his speed. He became an above average NSW Cup
player. He became too erractic for NRL.
You obviously didn't watch him in NSW Cup under JD or with Tim Sheens with Hull KR. Pity. Can't say I've seen Dufty under a bomb in NRL because it hasn't happened. 5cm is a small variance tbh. They're both too short. BTW your measurements are wrong. 178 vs 173 = 5.

I used Wikepedia. I watched Quinlan quite a lot in NSW Cup and he was quite elusive and set up some good attack but also could make some unexplained errors. Dufty is a great attacking player and should be used
accordingly. I am sure that Hornby could help him improve the skills that need to be improved. The Dragons have not had a decent half-back since
Hornby retired so Hunt will be a welcome addition.

Right, Hornby. Now you've lost me.

Hornby has been coaching Dufty for fullback.
It's not the cattle, it's just the coaching staff. Change the coaching staff and see the difference. I'm absolutely sure the likes of Mary, Hornby and Young would not get a gig with any other NRL Club.

The priorities of our Board are not the priorities which are in the best interest of the Club. They are in the best interest of certain officials involved in managing our Club.

The spine in 2018 is looking promising but will need some tweaking:

1. Dufty/Mann
6. Widdop
7. Hunt
9. McInnes/Hunt

14. Field to Super Sub as opposition forwards tire or to 7 if Hunt gives McInnes a much needed spell.

McInnes lacked spark for much of 2017 from dummy half because of the huge amount of tackles he made and the fact both he and the coach wanted him to play 80 minutes.

17. Leilua is a must as a game
Breaker. His offload is a must to create chances for Dufty. Their u/20s combination should not be ignored by Super Coach.

1. Dufty.
6. Widdop.
7. Hunt.
9. McInness.

I would like to see Mann on the wing. Surely, Field can an opportunity in the trials.

Hells yeah! Can't wait to see us make less than 15m a set, watch our back 3 get driven back to our ingoal over and over and watch the opposition rain tries down our edges!!

So exciting!!

So you root for Alice in Wonderland (aka Nene) & Nighty ?
That too will be exciting again in 2018
& you'd dismiss outright the potential of Bennet's World Cup fullback & best line breaker/try assist we will have, linking ( like Boyd did with Morris) with the two quickest guys going around - and around they'd go, with space to burn. Dufty's great under the high ball, and Field can score length of the field tries.
Give them a break and more respect please!
Alice & Nighty leaked tries all year anyway - if you recall ?
Apprenticeships are usually done on the wing?
Or do u prefer watching Dufty pass for Alice to fall over at the first ruck - that was riveting from the stands.
Let's have a crack with them or, as usual, another club will surely develop them?
There has to be change.
I think I'd go with Bennett's choice of fullback, or would you back Mary's judgement FFS?
The Poms shoulda won that one BTW.

Lol this isn't under 8s, you don't just give the ball to the winger and let them run around the opposition!

Dufty and Field have never played wing, are undersized for any position, struggle tackling (let alone making defensive reads) and simply don't have any leg drive to make metres.

I'm all for changing up our backline, but starting these two on the wings is a recipe for disaster.

You're comparing Dufty and Field with Morris and Boyd? Well... there you go.

He was actually comparing Widdop and Dufty/Field with Boyd and Morris.

Equally stupid, just clarifying!!!
You bright Sparks are comparing Young guns who are at the start of there careers with test players that have been playing for quite a few seasons.maybe at the start of their career they were not as good .why don't you compare apples with oranges.

Ken Irvine was 173cms / 5ft 8ins tall and nearly scored a try per game. Speed and good hands is the most important skill for a winger. Cleary was fast, tall and big framed but had poor hands and bombed a few tries like Cardy.

I'm all for giving Dufty and Field game time but if you put them on the wing, you will crucify them.
One of the biggest mistakes Mary makes consistently is play players out of their specialist position.
McDonald has played his best football as a centre, not a winger.
Nightingale (that slow, useless veteran who scored 16 tries in 2017) is a right winger being played on the left wing.
Why not play Nene in the centres, bring Lomax onto the left wing (speed + size) and play Dufty at FB.
Then play the slow coach in his specialist right wing position. He might score 20 tries falling over the line in 2018!
Field could be our X factor off the bench or, cover for Widdop or Dufty as could Mann.
Plenty of exciting footballers there just need a coach that knows how to meld them into a coordinated attacking unit.
In spite all the criticism that our backline deservedly copped, I believe they were coached into oblivion by McGregor.
Far too conservative and not prepared to pick players on form.
