Immediately prior to the second test, a memorial to the memory of 2nd Lt Jack Harrison VC MC will be unveiled. This memorial came from a discussion among Hull FC hans that were concerned that no permanent memorial was in place. Jack joined Hull FC in 1913, helped win the challenge trophy in 1914 and in the 1914/15 season scored 52 tries, a record that stands to this day.
He was awarded the MC in May 1917 and was awarded the VC in June of the same year, his body was never found and was listed as "missing, believed killed".
He left a wife, Lillian and baby son, Jack Jr. Jack Jr went on to excel at sports and joined up in WW2, only to lose his life at Dunkirk.
I would like to extend an invitation to any Aussies that will be coming over for the tests to visit the unveiling and pay your respects to a hero of our game.
The fund is only part-way to its target but we felt it important to commission the memorial in time for the 2nd test, with it being close to Remembrance Sunday. The fund is not just about the memorial but will also be responsible for awarding an annual Jack Harrison award to disadvantaged youngsters that have, through our Great Game, shown courage through adversity.
A website dedicated to Jack and the appeal will shortly go live, the web address is

the plaque is to be cast in bronze, here is the positive cast
It will then be set in a stainless steel plinth, here is a scale model of the plinth
