The 3,000,000 person to attend Origin since its inception will pass through the gates at Telstra Stadium on Wednesday evening if the crowd reaches 79,166.

To date there have been 2,920,834 in total attend the 73 games. The breakdown is: NSW 1,353,698 (29 games), QLD 1,363,727 (39 games), Melbourne 191,060 (4 games) and California USA 12,349 (1 game).

In the 23 series played, the number of times one side has won the first two games is 12 times (NSW 8 and Qld 4 series).

The last time Queensland won the second game in Sydney after winning the opening game was back in 1989.

Qld have won the first game in a series on 10 occasions. The result of these series has been: Qld won 8 series, NSW 1 and 1 drawn.

The only series NSW have won after losing the first game was in 1994.

Of the 73 games, 29 have been decided by margins of 4 points or less. Only 8 games have had over a 20-point margin.

The average points scored per origin game has increased markedly in recent times.

Average points per game for Origin by decade have been: 1980s 33.1, 1990s 23.4 and 2000s 41.1.

Game two has been historically the lowest average points scored in the series. Game one 29.3 points per game, Game two 26.5 and game three 36.7

NSW have used 197 players in origin history compared to Qld's 148

The Maroons team has a total of 128 games origin experience compared 118 for the Blues.

Points scored all-time by the origin teams all-time: Qld 1142, NSW 1141.

Andrew Johns (21 games) is the Blues most experienced Origin player, with Menzies next on 15 games. Matt Sing (22 games) is Qld's most capped, followed by Darren Lockyer with 19.

Craig Fitzgibbon is currently the equal leading point-scoring forward in Origin history with 28 points, equal with Queenslander Bob Lindner.

Darren Lockyer needs two points to become Qld's second leading point scorer behind Mal Meninga (161 points).

Lockyer currently sits on 65 points, one behind Dale Shearer with 66. Andrew Johns needs one point to become NSW's outright second leading pointscorer behind Michael O'Connor (129 points).

He is currently level with Ryan Girdler on 82 points.

The only Queenslanders in the current 17 to taste Origin victory in a game in New South Wales are Darren Lockyer and Matt Sing.

Conversely Andrew Johns and Steve Menzies are the only Blues players to taste defeat in NSW to Qld in Origin.

Ben Kennedy has played the most games at Telstra in NSW colours, with six games for six wins.
