9 days until 2018 mayhem starts

Players contracts that finish at the end of 2017 are allowed to start negotiating in 9 days, November 1st.
I was just looking through zero tackle and across the NRL there is between 230-240 players off contract.
I noticed they haven't got everyone from our squad for next year (Lewis and Heighno because I guess they haven't signed yet).
I also hazard a guess and say they haven't got the exact numbers for other teams too, hence the estimate 230-240.

It is going to be a crazy, crazy time for the makeup of all teams.
Hopefully our premiership win puts us in good stead if a player is undecided.

We would also be stupid not to have a crack at Ponga. The guy is a freak imagine having Val and Ponga on the wings.

Reynolds would be a decent pick up. I would have him at Hooker until Brailey is ready. May even get him mid year if the dogs start bad and decide on a clean out.

Also a few hard nosed forwards would be good.

Yep and I'd say most clubs and managers are already some steps ahead of the "official" date.

Slightly off topic but I have just stumbled across one of the best side steps I think I have ever seen. This kid is a rugby player out my way and there is big wraps on him in the rugby world...he would make one nippy half in league! I love how he just backs himself!

Salary cap goes up in 2018, the clubs do not know at this stage what it is going to be.
Eels are just one club going for Holmes in a cue of 16.

Holmes will stay with the club that gave him the opportunity and a premiership ring.

He doesn't like change which is what almost saw him go home.

Barba and Holmes will stay. Bird is the one who may fly.

Yeah but The Eels have a different salary cap.

They may not even be in the comp in 2018 the way things are going for them. I think they will get down again for more breaches TBH.

Well if they don't pay out Watmough & he takes them to court & wins, they'll be over the cap again.

Yeh one gets the feeling it will drag on into next year.

Great to see when you have knobs like Rhyno in their corner denying everything.

If Holmes is not itching for fullback next year he will surely leave if he is not our no.1 for 2018. Is next year Barbas last contracted year with us?

I say we keep bird, holmes, barba and graham. We will have alot of cap space next year as will probably be gallen, lewis, heighington if he stays last year plus the cap is going up - id say graham signs first then holmes then bird. Bird stayed last time and we are in a stronger postion this time.
